Advice on reasonable scroll saw and extras

Any scroll saw that retails for less than £250 new is mostly the same saw under different retail labels and not worth considering if you want ease of use, so a second hand saw would be your best bet (cheap saws can work well and produce good things, they are just not as easy to use as better...

    Stain Block advice

Thanks for thta suggestion, not cheap is it, over twice the Zinsser I used and that was supposed to be the bees knees Tikurilla Otex oil based adhesion primer.

    Stain Block advice

We live in an old chapel now 175 years old, where it appears some of the original plaster is still on the inside of the outer walls When we moved in it was wallpapered but after a couple of years we took that off and thats when the problem occurred of staining It will go with a spray bleach...

    Bloody officialdom....

Our printed leaflet (yet more recycling) says fortnightly recycling and rubbish collection and weekly for food As we are direct onto a village street there are going to be a heck of a lot of new wheelie bins littering the village, what an eyesore They also state that the wheelie bin has to be...

    Bloody officialdom....

Are you also changing to fortnightly black bag collections? with food waste every week, they are supplying a new wheelie bin and food waste bucket, or a seagull sack , despite our having already paid five quid for a council seagull sack, thinking of all the plastic wheelie bins and seagull sacks...

    Bloody officialdom....

We apparently also have that here, I have yet to visit the tip since it started and am not looking forward to it when I have the need to

    Bloody officialdom....

That is very much what I was saying out loud to no one in particular but after the umpteenth "your call is very important to us" I resigned myself to listen to whatever passes as their music which is very loud and irritating even on the lowest setting, thank goodness for hands free cordless phones

    Bloody officialdom....

On a similar subject I was a self employed shop owner a few years back and submitted my self assesment tax return online, by logging in through the Gov gateway Roll on a few years and retirement, check your pension forecast they said, do it online by logging in through the Gov gateway, good I...

Whats the mod? or is it something I have seen?

    Hegner development

I totally agree the Hegner prices are utterly ridiculous, I believe the quick clamp it now about £34 with postage, I was lucky to get mine second hand for £15, but they are rare to find used I have an Axminster AWFS18 Hegner clone, which is variable speed I bought some new blade clamps about 8...

    Hegner development

As I said I only use the V clamp at the bottom, using the quick clamp at the top, my point being should anyone not have a quick clamp the two blocks as a guide is very useful, even just using the bottom clamp the two guides aid clamping the blade dead straight, where the Henger only has one

    Hegner development

I have never understood why Hegners only come with one blade guide on the table, my AWFS18 has two, whilst I only use the V blade clamp for the bottom, it does make it easy to see that the blade is clamped straight

Electrician, or who for a bathroom fan job ?

Not sure they would be very happy with that plus we have no inspection camera, its not going to look to good with a blanking plate in the ceiling I am going over again next week and will see if I can get the fan out and may then be able to stick a camera up there, its very close to the fan

Electrician, or who for a bathroom fan job ?

I will have to have a further look myself next week, I had a hell of a game getting the cover shield off last time I tried, I didn't want to damage anything but son in law got it off, they were reluctant to go further as they didn't want to get to a point of not being able to refit the fan, but...

Electrician, or who for a bathroom fan job ?

I am awaiting a further reply from my daughter She says she has bleached it and it stays clear but the stain returns after a while As to approaching the upstairs resident again, easy said not so easily done, they are a quiet couple who do not like confrontation, I think it will be a case of...

Electrician, or who for a bathroom fan job ?

In her case the vent is on the outside wall, but we have a lot of high winds and gusts here, so rain could easily be driven into the outside vent but why it would go so far is another matter Given the way places are thrown together these days I can quite easily see there could be a poor...

Electrician, or who for a bathroom fan job ?

The original thought, after the upstairs said they had no leak etc was the fan outlet pipe, could it have a split in the connection and water condense within the pipe and leak through, daughter says it hasn't come back as they haven't used the fan since, (but then its there now?) so need to...

Electrician, or who for a bathroom fan job ?

Thanks for yours, as all these places are identical the patch would be to the side of the bath, you can see the line of the bath by the tiles, which initially suggested to me that there had been a spillage upstairs, overflowing bath or shower curtain not fully in the bath but the resident...

Electrician, or who for a bathroom fan job ?

My daughter has a unit in a block of six, three either side, new build about ten years ago She is on the ground floor, a little while back she had a damp patch appear in the ceiling of the bathroom, its about a foot from the ceiling fan, they thought it may be from the extractor fan outlet pipe...
