Any cyclists? Get the miles in!

There are a great many shared paths these days, we have quite a few, pedestrians are just as bad on these, they walk four across the path taking up the whole thing So it works both ways, personally I have a bell on my bike and boy do you have to ring it sometimes, people oblivious of the...

Any cyclists? Get the miles in!

I have cycled in Holland, a different world for cyclists over there where everyone has a bike and various special cycle roads and lanes with their own lights makes life a lot easier, the lack of hills helps too

Any cyclists? Get the miles in!

Well I certainly would these days but we used to have either no brakes at all or just a front

Any cyclists? Get the miles in!

I could never afford a copper but mates had them I rode them but can't say I was that impressed A good Mk1 can fetch quite a bit We used to build our own chopper type hybrids, most ended in disaster ;-)

Any cyclists? Get the miles in!

Ha, I used to ride fixed wheel back in the day If memory served 13 tooth sprocket but don't hold me to it The joys of slipping out of a rat trap and trying to get your toe back in again These days I gather you have to have front and rear brakes on fixed wheel cycles? I remember reading of...

    Childs chair bending top rail

Yes I am in no rush, I have had it probably about 35 years, it was fine until stored in a garage for ten years, now another decade has passed but now have the incentive to get it done, I fitted in it when about five years old, my grandson is now 16 months so still some time left ;-)

Thanks for that, I have watched several videos on steaming and this was also suggested Ever the optimist but I think it will work okay, its already been in the correct shape once and hasn't so far to go to be back where it once was

    Childs chair bending top rail

Thanks for that I can't think what to use to steam though, I had one of those little steamers but its long gone now, short of a kettle I can't think what else to use and sourcing something is out of the question for now at least There isn't much finish left to be fair, after storage for all...

    Childs chair bending top rail

Oh yes I realise it needs removing and then bending after ??? I hadn't thought of boiling it rather than just soaking it Would boiling be much better than just soaking for a prolonged period do you think?

    Childs chair bending top rail

Hi all I inherited a childs school chair from the school I attended many moons ago My eldest sister was the last headmistress of that school and kindly gave me two They were stored in a garage for some ten years or so and when I fetched them out the damp (I suspect) caused the top rail to...

    Media coverage of the virus

You know the coverage is OTT when you wish the Brexit debate would come back ;-) I agree its way over the top at present to the point that I can't listen to the usual radio station (5 live) or watch any news on TV (which I try and avoid normally anyway) The media, in particular the BBC (as...

    Careful, it's dangerous out there...

Well hopefully with the announcement from Boris last night, those planning to come down (or to seconds homes anywhere) will now not do so, and those already in them may return home Places such as Cornwall do not have the facilities for all these selfish idiots We depend on tourism usually...

    Careful, it's dangerous out there...

I am very glad to hear it So many seem to think its a great idea to go on holiday and at a time like this its utter madness We have a very limited amount of hospital space and likewise food in the supermarkets in Cornwall We are pleading with those remaining holiday parks and hotels to...

Choosing a scroll-saw. Why pay more? the answer is here.

Annoying, for some reason I am not getting alerts to new replies on ukworkshops As others have said, go for the Delta, its a good sturdy machine with better blade clamps for quick changing I was going to point it out to you yesterday but wasn't sure where you were Apart from its a better...
