Rutlands one hand clamps marking wood

had similar issue with certain woods - I used some 1mm self adhesive backed cork on the clamp faces

Yep - I have a small still (for medicinal purposes of course…!) and have jars of very pure alcohol which do the trick on everything but not the ebony - I think next time I will joint the blocks properly rather than just sticking face to face.

I hate working with ebony - single pieces turn beautifully but joining pieces to make something like this is a real pain - the wood is so waxy/oily and has no real grain and 80 grit paper - Makes it like glass! . I variously used epoxy, and wood glue, and neither filled me with confidence it...

    How good are Howdens kitchens?

We went for a Howden Kitchen last year - I opened a Trade Account with them ages ago and that really helped with the pricing - we remodelled our whole downstairs, everything from floors to ceilings and our builder and I did the installation. Took a while to work out how things fitted together...

    Safe workshop heater?

I have a one of these ticking over in the half of my workshop (partitioned double garage) where my lathe is and it’s conveniently under my turning tools!! Cheaper one out there but you need a thermostat or a timer if not built in...

Nano / graphene / ceramic finishes?

Don’t have any better pictures to give an idea I’m afraid!

Nano / graphene / ceramic finishes?

Definitely not! I make a few tables as a finish it’s the best I have used - I try to keep it off the resin is there is a river, as it’s harder to polish off, but it’s dead easy to apply - just need a stopwatch running! It is pricey (maybe £100 for the “kit”) but it lasts for many projects and...

Nano / graphene / ceramic finishes?

Pictures don’t help at all - was trying to show the sheen after 6 months or so but it just looks like glare!

Nano / graphene / ceramic finishes?

I have used the Blacktail Studios n3 nano finish on our kitchen worktop, which was sanded, waxed and finally the ceramic was applied - they have a good couple of instructional videos on YouTube - I found it easy to use and so far a very good finish, particularly on a kitchen worktop as it beads...

    Radio for workshop

I completely agree with using it for calculations asking “Alexa, what’s 1920 x 0.55” is easier than scrabbling for my phone or my very dusty calculator - and particularly good when I am mixing resin and wearing sticky gloves - plus it does a good job with music and the radio!

    Lurem C2600 Manual in English

It’s a long shot, but I don’t suppose anybody has an English Manual for this - my French is passable but not 56 pages worth when my fingers are likely to be come unattached!

    Planer / thicknesser issue

I don’t want to Hijack this thread but I don’t suppose anybody has a manual for the Lurem 2600 in English?! My French is passable but not 56 pages worth!

Basically finished now, although I need to do another coat or two of microcrystalline wax as the finish is a tad uneven!

That’s lovely - as I kid I remember chopping down Sycamores at home and splitting them into firewood - if I knew then….!

Outside finished of a Cherry and resin bowl - the wood was really soft in places inside the burr so I am posting these now in case it falls apart when I do the inside!!
