    3 Phase Saw Assistance

OK. So the DOL components won't fit in the old box, so you are talking about a new box. So do you mean running wires to and from the new to the old box to connect up the brake?

    3 Phase Saw Assistance

I don't know, but he is definitive he has found the fault.

    3 Phase Saw Assistance

Sure, but, I think Sideways suggested this as a method of getting the saw working allowing fault finding with the brake, thay being where he suspected the fault may be. Fitting a new DOL would get the saw working, but would leave the saw without a brake, which isn't ideal, which the industrial...

    3 Phase Saw Assistance

I am not sure. Something about the start/reset not lining up in any of the model versions. I presume he means the overload relay? Though it is the same thing Crompton said too?

    3 Phase Saw Assistance

Thanks again for the assistance. I took the advice offered and managed to get an industrial electrician to visit. He identified the fault as the contactor, and one of the phases remaining open. He says he can't source a replacement through his typical suppliers and will need to search the...

    3 Phase Saw Assistance

Thanks. Does it matter which phases feed the break card?

    3 Phase Saw Assistance

Th Thanks for all your comments. Thanks too for the concern for safety. I appreciate this as I have had 2 mains shocks and I wouldn't want anything worse! One not my fault, working on a building job as a 17yo removing an old built in bookshelf which I'd lifted heaved up, and slapped my hand...

    3 Phase Saw Assistance

This is the circuit diagram, which was tucked inside the starter, on the left hand side, between the inside of the casing and the Contactor and Overload. I am not sure if the burn marks on the diagram might offer any clues?!

    3 Phase Saw Assistance

Dear uk workshop friends, I am seeking some advice on getting my saw up and running. Its a TA450 Sedgwick 3 phase saw which was seen working before purchase. After transport, it has sat in the workshop for a few months awaiting rewiring of the old 3 phase wiring (which needed replaced as it was...

    Thicknesser advice

Thanks again Yojevol. I am finding a few labelled as HC60 saying they are equivalent to record HC260. Is this the same machine?

    Thicknesser advice

Thank you Yojevol and all of you for your responses, which are helpful. Can I ask, the HC260 type machines seems to come from a number of different companies. Is this just a branding, or do these have different builds and quality. What sort of money would you be looking to obtain a second hand...

    Thicknesser advice

So I am a relatively beginner hobby woodworker in the little spare time from full time work and family with 2 kids, and up until the summer I was only able to do things in the house with hand tools, moving from room to room as and when dust escaped and provoked marital stress. Since the autumn...

    Triton Tra001 Router question

Yup. I went this route, and 2nd hand too, given the expense of a router lift. I think it will do the job for me for the short to medium term. I did drill new holes so the lock was optimally accessible.

    Triton Tra001 Router question

My experience with this router and experimenting with just this is you absolutely do need to lock it off.

    Wet, Wet, Wet

Sympathise. In the last bout of severe wet weather, the burn burst its banks and ran 100m past a cottage, high enough to be safe, and then over our drive, and down into my workshop. When I got down to the workshop, it was in six inches of water, with stream mud/sediment over everything. Quite a...

    Computer says no ...

The NHS hospital is more often than not the largest single employer in its area. If you add in the GPs and wide health and social care infrastructure, it is massive. And why would it not be? Very few have taken on board the warnings, now many decades old, of Ivan Illich in Medical Nemesis that...

    Birch ply

OK. So video after video of jig making and DIY solutions to avoid buying tools seem to be made by people with never supplies of rather nice looking Birch ply. Where are they getting this that doesn't cost a bomb?! Any advice appreciated!!

    Marking Knives

Thanks everyone for an unintentionally fascinating thread. I am detecting a certain antipathy to Paul Sellers. To be fair to my impression of him, I didn't think he had claimed to have invented it so much as come to his own epiphany that he wasn't marking so much as making a wall to work with...

    Marking Knives

Thanks for the response. We all make our own way through life!! I wanted to make violins and spend my life working in wood but ended up in medicine. I'm lucky to have had a secure career structure, but the pressures have played havoc with my mental health. Ultimately there is something immersive...
