Damaged 60 1/2 block plane thread - replacement?!

There are two different diameters. The smaller, is fine with no issues. The smaller, most distal to the head, attaches to the iron base. The larger diameter fixes to the pictured metal clip. This sits in a groove on the base of the plane and on the other side, two notches slot into the blade...

Thanks for trying to help, but this is sadly not the right one.

Damaged 60 1/2 block plane thread - replacement?!

Hi All. I seem to have some how stripper the thread on my 60 1/2 block plane. Its stripped at the wider diameter bit that advances the blade. Is it possible to get spare parts for these? Or do I need to get another?

TA315 or TA450 Mitre Track Information

Woh. That thing is a beast! Thanks for the pictures. It's helpful to see and like you, I think something like this would be too big to be used regularly. I think I might see if I can build something myself using the attachment points.

TA315 or TA450 Mitre Track Information

Older machines don't, but newer machines do come with mitre tracks, but they aren't detailed in their specs or manuals.

TA315 or TA450 Mitre Track Information

Yes. I had to bite the bullet on a new SOL. Since then it's been sweet. Unexpectedly currently reripping about 100m2 of 1.5" of ?stone pine floorboards, very high resin very heavy floor boards. Is that the 620mm attachment? I don't have that but am curious about it. It does seem bulky. Mine...

TA315 or TA450 Mitre Track Information

Hi All. I am looking for some information on the size and shape of the mitre track in these machines, and what distance they are offset either side of the blade. Any ideas appreciated on this, and also the relative values of a side bar based mitre, rather than a newer machine with mitre tracks...

    Thought on AI

This is possibly true. OTOH our human bias is always to want to do more and more to help more and more people - which is rightly our moral instincts. This is really difficult when we are spending monumental amounts of money on new molecular drugs for cancer which are nuking the wider NHS budget...

    Thought on AI

Apologies. Written too fast! A not much slower attempt... AI is massively increasing demand for resources - not just power, but also for water. This is: - causing extra hot areas through heat exhaust that is making areas even more unpleasant to live - utilising power and water that prevent...

    Thought on AI

That one of the perceived benefits of digitisation, sure. Though you have to factor in that entering the data into the system is way slower than using paper in the initial data entry space, and it is also way more expensive. This wasn't the point I was making though. The point I was making is...

    Thought on AI

I work in the NHS and with technology. I am becoming more and more cynical about the holistic value of these things with age. This is especially true of AI. I have done some research into the carbon impact on AI, and it is not small. Firstly, the data centre expansion to support it drives and...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

Private provision is far more problematic than you describe. Firstly, the workforce is largely the same, insufficient pool. The more you sponsor private over public, the more you shift the workforce from public to private. Secondly, the different activity being carried out in the private sector...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

Apologies for the spill. I should have put "straight talkers" in inverted commas! His preferred mode rather than a statement of approval. It just makes it easier for him to sounds reasonable.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

I think you illustrate well how inured we become to shifts in dishonesty over time. Having followed this from e.g. the Peter Oborne books on Blair, and the significant shift in "Spin" then, Starmer really is an order of magnitude or categorical degree worse than Blair was himself, who stood at...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

Its not a strong statement beyond the facts. He lied to achieve power, securing a mandate on an entirely false prospectus, and did so putting his signature (in case there might be any doubt about his commitment) to all of the pledges he made to achieve power. It has been suggested that these had...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

We do need an upper house though. In my view, we need a house of council representatives. One councillor elected from each council, across party lines, onboarding the loss of an internal vote that results in the council for the benefit of representation in the upper house, encouraging...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

As a father with 2 children I find this election extremely depressing. The climate crisis is real, and for all intents and purposes ignored, or made the subject of identity politics, and false financial dividing lines with nothing happening to address growing flooding issues, and farming...

Old blue Record CL2 tailstock - what morse taper?

I am trying to find out what morse taper one of the older blue record CL2 lathes uses on the tailstock. I have the instructions but doesn't state it there. Does anyone know this off hand?
