    Peanut Connecting System

I assume it's only designed to be assembled/disassembled a few times? as each occurance of the wedgeing action will compress the material and be less secure the next time around?

Micro adjust fence/edge guide for the DeWalt D26204K?

Has anyone come across one that fits? Seems like the American verison of this router has one, but no the Uk version. I came across this one, but it doesn't give any info, and looks to be all imperial. So probably doesn't have 8mm bars. And given the shipping price, probably comes from the...

    Festool Clamps losing "grip"

They haven't asked me to return them. I've just taken delivery of the replacements. They actually sent 3 pairs! ... can't argue with that service.

    Festool Clamps losing "grip"

Bit of an update on this. Festool have agreed to replace all 3. However I am still trying to fix them. I bought a very rough file and filed both sides of the main bar. This appeared to work great, but after about an hour or so of being clamped up, it fails ...

    Festool Clamps losing "grip"

I filed one of them down a bit and it did indeed help. However, I only had a fine file, so going to try and find something a little rougher. Any suggestions for something I can buy online?

    Festool Clamps losing "grip"

You've not come across Festool? They're usually about £25 for a pair.

    Festool Clamps losing "grip"

Nope. I'll try filing them and see if it helps. but looking at them, they're smooth all the way down. There is no sign of wear or change from the areas that never get used (towards the bottom) Here is a good shot showing just how smooth they are : I don't see why some are working and others...

    Festool Clamps losing "grip"

Oddly they don't have serrations. It's smooth on both sides. But then so are my Axminster ones and they work just fine.

    Festool Clamps losing "grip"

Is anyone else having trouble with the Festool screw clamps sliding (the part shown in red in the image below) when they're being screwed down? I have a 6 of them now, and 3 of them simply have stopped working. Two of them slide as soon as you start to apply any pressure from screwing down and...

    "non slip" routing mats

If you mean this stuff : I personally don't think it's very good. Too thin. I much prefer using reconstituted foam. You only need it to be 1/4" - 1/2" thick.

    Cordless Router

In most cases, I would always have it hooked up to a vac, but personally, I still see the benefit of it being easier without a cable. Ideally, I'd go the Festool route and have the cable attached to the dust extraction hose so they're essentially one thing, but I don't have the luxury of having...

    Cordless Router

I'm using the Bosch cordless line up at the moment, butit doesn't look like they're going to bring out a cordless router (other than the mini 12v one) any time soon, so am looking at other brands. - The Dewalt one would be great as I already have the D26204K mains powered version, so could...

    Alcohol assisted planing

I saw someone doing this to other day so they could get a good finish on a cheaper softwood. Thing is, it's not extactly cheap, and they were going through it fast! ...seems a bit backwards to me.

    PIV loft mounted units

Will do. I'll leave it set to a target of 50%RH 24/7 and see what happens after a week.

    PIV loft mounted units

I could do that each morning, but you still end up with that horrible black gunk around the seal all night which can't be good?

    PIV loft mounted units

haha, .. not really. The comments in this thread seem pretty divided :) I have tried a dehumidifer in the past (desiccant), but wasn't getting great results. It would collect maybe half a tank over night, but there were still droplets on the bottom of the window in the morning, so returned it...

    PIV loft mounted units

I live alone, and have one bath a day. The bathroom has an extractor. The kitchen has an extractor (although I don't cook much to be honest). Clothes are not dried indoors. All windows appear to suffer the same level. And yes, it has been a long term issue, so not related to me being at home all...

    PIV loft mounted units

I'm sure a dehumidifier would help, but it feels like a bit of a work around as opposed to a solution. I'll have to look into the running costs of a PIV that also heats the air too. They are double glazed but they're super old by now, I'd guess at least 20 years old. I've also done some...

    PIV loft mounted units

Interesting. Not sure about your maths though? 165w an hour is about 4kw a day, so 28kw a week. 28 * 15p = £4.20 a week. Unless of course you're getting a cracking deal on your electricity :)

    PIV loft mounted units

Yes, I have tried those. But I don't think that is the issue. I live alone, so one bath a day, and I don't dry clothes or anything indoors.
