    Clever router finger joint jig

I know what you mean. Although I am rubbish with hand tools, and they take a lot longer, I do very much prefer it. It's very satisfying and soothing (when it goes right).

    Attaching Workbench Top

I think gluing it would be worse, as then nothing can move, and if it was to try, the glue or the wood would fail, and it would be insecure. With screws, there is enough play for it to not be an issue, so it might move slightly, but it would still be well secured. If you're really concerned...

We bought a house to fill with hand made furniture

I'm still going with some kind of second house. Else where would all his existing furniture go? ... I'd assume he has a lot!

Advice on my proposed mini workshop layout?

There really isn't much point in trying to design something like this. It will change within days and continue to evolve for many years, and depends entirely on the person and their work. Having said that. - Have everything on wheels. - position tools such that the infeed and outfeed utilises...

    Clever router finger joint jig

It all depends on how accurate you make it. Dovetail router jigs use the same concept, so it's hardly flawed. You just need very accurate keys and be sure to clamp them correctly. I think if you were to use aluminium keys you would get better results. And as I had said before, I had noticed...

    Clever router finger joint jig

Who cares what it is called. Question is - is anyone going to try it? ... be good to see some results I already have too many things on my list to do, but I've added it at position #17 :D .. so we're probabkly looking at 2022

    Clever router finger joint jig

Maybe its pressing too hard against the wooden keys. Could also just be a poor router bit with an inaccurate bearing. Another option is to make the keys from solid aluminium which I believe would be ok as you're only grazing it. Or maybe use a bushing. Sent from my SM-J510FN using Tapatalk

Stopped grooves on the router table

Thanks guys. Give me some credit, ...I didn't mean 'Drop' in the literal sense :) The the piece I was using the plunge router with was 44x44mm by about 400mm. I needed a 12x8mm groove along it's length, stopping about 40mm from each end.

Stopped grooves on the router table

I generally cut these with a handheld plunge router, but the setup for each cut can take forever when you have a lot to do. I see lots of people doing them with the router table, where you drop the piece onto the cutter, move, and then lift up again. This seems so much quicker, as there is no...

Digital Vernier calipers ~£3 on Amazon

Maybe it's something that has been corrected then, but I certainly experienced it with my Lidl ones (bought about 8 years ago). I've not experienced with the Tacklife ones though, and they have a giant screen.

The cheaper ones eat up batteries. I bought the Tackwise one for £10. Very pleased

    How would you cut these?

That first one tricks the eye! I thought the top was beveled in. For the tongues, I think I would knock up a router tenon type jig,but modified to create a 45 For the grooves, I think I would cut them using a spline/tenon type jig, and then cut the 45 after.

We bought a house to fill with hand made furniture

Each to their own I think. I personally can't stand designer type furniture, and very much welcome the more traditional type styles where practically and usage overrides looks! (it's furniture not a sculpture!) and I'd guess that most of his audience would be the same.
