    Making Grooving Planes

Pretty much :) That lathe tool steel stock looks perfect! and in 1mm increments! ... I assume I don't have to harden it or anything? just grind down to my 25deg and I'm set? (fortunately I have access to a Sorby Pro Edge) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LATHE-TOOL-S ... PrW-V3aheQ Sure, I...

    Making Grooving Planes

Has anyone made something like this? I would like to make one so I can cut grooves to accept 6mm ply, such as in the botton of a box. Not sure what to use for the blade though? I was thinking of just picking up a 6mm chisel and removing the handle. Maybe something like this ...

That looks to only be for the newsletter. For the course, it looks like you need to sign up /login. There should be a link in the top right of each training video e.g https://www.mattestlea.com/post/how-to-sharpen-a-chisel

    3d printed honing guide

This is specifically designed for my japanese plane blades. As they're wedge shaped in both dimensions, they dont fit into most honing guides. The magnets work surprisingly well. Yes, you can move the blade with finger pressure, but it's also pretty easy to keep in place if you're being...

    Plunge Saw Track Lengths

Depends entirely on the tasks you do most often. Measure the cuts you often make and add ~200mm either side (to support the saw)

Where does he keep his dust?

Here's a wild thought. Maybe he cleaned up before the recording?

Why is there not a cheap version of this?

I think the problem with those is that they wear. I gave up on wooden dowel jigs for that reason and moved to bushings

Where can I find something like this? (NYLON LOAD ROLLER)

Of course I'll be keeping the stone flat. I just figured that plastic rollers wouldn't wear it as fast as metal bearings. But if I am over thinking that part, then just 2 or 3 stacked bearings is probably all I need.

Where can I find something like this? (NYLON LOAD ROLLER)

I was just thinking that because the metal on the bearing is so much harder, that it is more likely to make tracks?

Where can I find something like this? (NYLON LOAD ROLLER)

Sorry, the entire thing needs to be around 20 or 25mm in diameter. I am experimenting with an idea I have for a honing guide to sharpen Japanese plane irons, and this would be the wheel. I guess the bearing on it's own (say two or three stacked up to give the required surface) would be bad for...

Where can I find something like this? (NYLON LOAD ROLLER)

Something like the following image, but with a much smaller diameter, say around 20-25mm? I've tried looking into small fixed castors (such as this) but the quality of the materials is always very poor (usually not round), and I can't find one with a diameter that I want...

    Coptool

Came across this the other day. It's a youtube channel that reviews other tool/diy/maker* type based youtube channels. Seem like such a niche market. I have no idea how they're making enough money, as it seems pretty professional. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d8AFwhJkRA * I detest this...

Why is there not a cheap version of this?

When you say eye watering, how much did you see it for? I've seen it for around £30 to £40, which isn't that much if it's accurate and well built. https://www.rutlands.co.uk/sp+power-too ... nds+dk7777 https://www.rutlands.co.uk/sp+v-drill-g ... 5mm+DK7017...

    charnwood W619 TS

Again, ignoring the extensions, a lot of job site saws have a much bigger cast aluminium table. Thats the only point I was trying to make :)

    charnwood W619 TS

I was comparing table size alone which is the important part really, and what you're paying for
  19. transatlantic

    charnwood W619 TS

The table is quite small. Only 400mm wide, where as most site saws are around 600mm wide (excluding extensions)

    Planer Accident

I've always thought the guard on the Titan is horribly flimsy, but in this case it would have prevented the injury, if set correctly. As for using the planer on an unsecure surface, yeah ... not the smartest move.
