I think I broke my Triton Thicknesser

It has a circuit breaker, did you check that?

Nicker for home made grooving plane?

I was doing it as you described. But when you come across a point where the grain is not straight, or close to a knot, I don't get a clean edge. And you can't always go with the grain ... unless I make two with different orientations

Nicker for home made grooving plane?

So I am on version 3 of my home made grooving plane now, and although for the most part it works as I would like it, I am not happy with the quality of the edges I get when making the first few strokes (PINE). Even when going with the grain, they are not as crisp as I would like, and when going...

It's really not that difficult to move large structures. I do it in sketchup all the time time ....

    bessey UniKlamps experiences

I like them. Mine tend to get stuck quite often though, which is annoying (and yes, I am aware that you need to tilt the handle depending on which way you want to slide the head) I really don't know why they're so expensive though, there really is nothing to them.

Axminster have these for £50. Is that a good price for it? Pretty cool how you can rotate it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHoe2NeR_8w&t=148s

    work holding (clamping)

Do you mean something like below, rotated 90 degrees to the user? Wouldn't you only have an inch or two of the material in the vice before the work piece butts into the frame of the vice? (the sliding bit)

    work holding (clamping)

Nope. It only has one front facing vice on the right. Just tried the clamped board setup and it works much better than I thought it would. Sent from my SM-J510FN using Tapatalk

    work holding (clamping)

In the picture below, we see a tenon being cut with it clamped in a vice between the faces of the board. By clamping it this way, you are then able to rotate either towards you, or away from you, enabling you to see your lines better. I was wondering what would be the best way of achieving...

    Unexpected windfall

I was thinking most peoples wifes would think the same thing! I hope you treat her to something for her hobbies too, Garno. I doubt that emptying the dishwasher, vaccuming and washing clothes count!

I was responding to the "Why" I think some of the better youtubers are those that do it as more of a hobby.

and i thought making dovetails was hard

It's about the entertainment for the viewers, and the challenge for the creator. Nothing to do with speed of manufacture or quality of the joint.

    Hardwearing Jeans.

Also - it's the same with T-Shirts! The trend now is to have them very thin, tight, and the 'sleeves' half the length they used to be.

    Hardwearing Jeans.

I get mine from Asda, they seem to be thicker than other more expensive brands, and I like the inbuilt 'stretch'. Although one of the first things I have to do when buying a new pair is get the belt hoop stitching made stronger (but thats due to me being rough, other people seem to manage) My...

    What type of paint?

I want to write someones name on a box. It will be painted onto bare Oak (sanded to 180), and then need to be finished with something like Osmo or Danish oil. What kind of paint should I use for this? bearing in mind that the Oak is quite open grained, so I assume it needs to be something quite...

    americans and blade guards

It can depend on the quality of the saw though. The guards on the cheaper ones are so poor, it can be more dangerous with them on.
