I want to drill a hole in my saws

That's right, you heard me. Just managed to drop my Veritas saw trying to hang it up on a silly holder and snapped a large chunk off the handle. I can't be bothered with the handle shaped "hooks", I just want to hang it up on a screw just like you can with any other builders merchant type...

    Accuracy.

Surely having the option of both normal and decimal inches is just asking for trouble.

    Woodwork related tattoos??

    - An incorrect imperial to metric conversion chart on your right butt cheek - A poorly fitting dovetail joint above your left nipple - A Festool Domino emerging from flames on your back - Silverline text on your forehead. - A bandsaw blade going around your waist, but with a crap weld joint. - A...

    Good Quality Mitre Saw

I've seen that saw in a few shops on display. Always seems to have a ridiculous amount of play

    Good Quality Mitre Saw

It's quite hard to get a good non sliding saw these days. The non sliding saws tend to be the entry level, cheapo machines. You'll most likely have to look second hand. It's certainly true that the further you extend the saw on the rails, the more play it will have, but they usually all have a...

The punch trick assumes the material is both straight and parallel ... ;)

    Sanitary ware ...

I've always wondered why the hex/allen key and associated hardware has six sides that can so easily be rounded. Surely a square (like we have now with square drive screws) would have been the most obvious option? I'm assuming it was to give you more angles of attachment? (for tight areas)

How to watch a Prime video on my tv

I used to love my Amazon Fire stick. However, it's been getting slower and slower ... Performing a factory reset has no effect.

    Transfering printed text to Oak

So whenever I want to transfer a printed image (some text or a logo) to wood, I use the laser printer / cellulose thinner method. That is, I print the image onto paper using a Laser printer, stick it down, rub with some cellulose thinner, wait 10 seconds or so, then rub all over with the back of...

How to calculate honing guide protrusion?

Don't forget that the thickness of the blade plays a part too (depending on how you measure the projection) So 25deg on a thin blade will have a different projection to 25deg on a thick blade. Using the same projection for all your blades (irregardless of thickness) isn't a problem though...

    Vacuum attachments or dust bags

It all depends on the quality of the extraction on the tool itself. Some work well, some are next to useless Sanders are pretty good for most brands. Chop saws are usually pretty bad for most brands.

    JSP PowerCap

Cheers, Yeah, the newer ones have what appear to be a 2.1mm jack type fitting, so much easier to plug/unplug

    JSP PowerCap

Ah ok. Yeah, the internal battery is probably easy to find. And I could easily knock up the socket for it too. Hopefully there are no other electronics inside. We'll see!

    JSP PowerCap

Do you have a link to the 3rd party suppliers Steve? I can only see two makers of the battery, the JSP one and the Axminster one.

Do you need to strengthen a mitre joint

The problem you'll have is that people will always go to lift that from the top. If you don't mind dowels, how about screws and plugs? If you don't have a biscuit jointer, then you could probably route out a few splines. As the face of the mitre will be hidden in the end, you can just screw a...
