    Cheap square angle tolerance

Unfortunately the standards only apply when bought from a decent supplier. I made the mistake of buying 3 engineering squares from Toolstation (yeah I know) ... and all three were so far out it was laughable. They handn't been bashed or anything, they'd just been manufactured very poorly. All...

    Cheap square angle tolerance

There's more chance of error due to the user sligtly changing the angle of the blade/pencil to the square as they draw the line back. Or for the knife to fall into the existing track. It's also very easy to add in error simply by not applying equal pressure with the square against the reference...

    Cheap square angle tolerance

This rule really is daft. It's like saying only one side of a ruler needs to be accurate.

New table saw advice - Record, Axminster, Baileigh, Jet?

Might be easier to just post a link : https://www.baileighindustrial.co.uk/wo ... table-saws It's all very 'American-y' ... all the specifications in imperial and the voltage as 110v/220v?, but looks like good stuff.

Thank you for the offer, but I have now ordered some from Amazon.

    Honing Guide

It's quite interesting that Axminster haven't decided to make the modifications everyone recommends to their version of the Eclipse honing guide. Now you might say, it's not their version, it's just rebadged stuff from the same factory. But even so, you usually see differences between brands in...

    Honing Guide

Except japanese plane blades :( Well it kind of does work, you just have to use a different squareing/depth guide.

    Compression Springs

Surely if I could do that, they wouldn't hold their "springyness"? Sent from my SM-J510FN using Tapatalk

    Compression Springs

I'm making a jig where I have an M8 bolt that is used as a micro adjuster to raise and lower a corner of table (there are actually 4, one for each corner of the square table). It works great, but the bolt can rotate with vibration, and is insecure. I'm wanting to use a very strong compression...

    Multi-lane roundabouts

People get into the wrong lane all the time. If you don't know the area, it's bound to happen. What's important, is that if you do make a mistake, and you're trying to correct it, you make your intentions clear! ... too many people start drifting to get into the correct lane without indicating...

    Axminster AC216TS saw

You'd need to modify the fence, or buy a longer one. But if you're doing that, you may as well just get the 254mm trade saw (£900) assuming funds will allow.

    Routing straight lines

You're taking the router to the workpiece (instead of the workpiece to the router table) for a reason. Size. If you're really going to measure that out by hand. Go for it. I still think you missed the intention of the jig, but hey ho.

    Routing straight lines

How will a straight edge and ruler do the same job? (without a lot of manual measuring and farting about) her jig basically works like a track saw, where you place the track against your cut line. Simple. i.e there needs to be an offset that takes into account the router base and router bit...

    Good lord what a workshop!

Given the whole organisation OCD thing, ..it's surprising not to see a wall of Festool sustainers :P

also, at the very end of the video, he talks briefly about it being over the top (in case anyone missed it).

    Good lord what a workshop!

hmm, interesting comments. For me, this is a bit like the Studley tool chest, ..only the power tool/workshop version? And you can hardly say he doesn't do any real woodworking when it's all clearly on display (assuming he did it) Arguably though, he's missing a bunch of common machines you'd...

Have you tried the non slip material stuff? only few quid a roll so might be worth a try. Maybe also use it in conjunction with the dogs.

    BOSCH GHO 26-82D POWER PLANER

Well - I decided to take it apart to see what was going wrong. I take it back about the good build quality. Although the front infeed table is a very nice cast and then milled piece of aluminium, the mechanism for the rise and fall is that it simply rides (with grease) on a very thin piece of...
