    Trouble with Beech

But if it was any of those problems, why does it work fine on Oak and Sapelle?

    Trouble with Beech

It didn't seem to help, I think it made it a little hard actually. I just tried some Oak (I think American White Oak), and that is supposed to be about the same hardness as Beech and although it wasn't as easy as the Sapelle, it wasn't difficult. But then Sapelle is supposed to be harder than...

    Wood Planing Problem

Its a shame there is a real lack of very fine diamond stones. Lots of brands sell 1K stones, but then as far as I am aware it's only DMT that do anything higher, which is around 8K. I know that many people go straight from 1000 to a strop, but I find it helps to have one grit between. I...

    Wood Planing Problem

It's a bit of a catch 22. You're advised to work with pine (or similar) because it's cheap and easily accessable, but it also really quite hard to work with, both in terms of working it, and also finishing it (hello blotchy my old friend). Pine is the Rich Tea biscuit of the woodworking world.

    Trouble with Beech

I've started making a small box in Beech and have just started making the grooves using my home made grooving plane. I'm having real trouble trying to push the plane through though. Im not quite sure what is going on. I can make grooves in Sapele with absolute ease, yet with the Beech its a...

    NVR switch for Router table

Hum/light buzz. I don't know. It's noticable, put it that way :) If you follow the link, the Axminster one has 4 terminals. Not 5 Sent from my SM-J510FN using Tapatalk

    NVR switch for Router table

Well - it just so happens that is how I have it wired. However, I can't see a data sheet on the Axminster website. Are we talking about the same switch? https://www.axminstertools.com/kedu-kjd ... 1ph-102532 The closest data sheet I can find is here, and no mention of L/N order...

    NVR switch for Router table

Look at the diagram. There is no designation. Unless it's something with the numbering that I am unaware of? Surely if it was that important, it would be labeled?

    NVR switch for Router table

There is not designation for L/N, I thought it didn't matter as it was AC?

    NVR switch for Router table

It's kind of hard to get wrong. It has 2 inputs and 2 outputs. If I had wired it incorrectly, then I wouldn't be seeing the NVR functionality working, which I do see.

Apologies, I will be using this with a 620w electric planer. I didn't think to check the rating for ops usage. Sent from my SM-J510FN using Tapatalk

    NVR switch for Router table

I have the flappy Axminster one, and it seems to work ok, although it does buzz when it's in the off mode? not really a problem for me as I unplug it after using it anyway. I've recently ordered one of these for another project, seems good for the price. I wanted to avoid the flappy paddler...

Sorby Belt UKW Group Buy. 50x780 belts.

Apologies if I am missing something here, but they only seem to do 36/60/80 grits, where as the Ceramic Sorby belts come in 120/240. They also don't seem to be any cheaper, coming in at around £5.50 each when you buy a pack of 12, which is roughly the same price as the sorby ones when bought...

    Sorby pro sharpening system

I own the Sorby, but I do not own the diamond belt. As for usage, it really depends how often you use it. The diamond belt is about £160, the Ceramic belts are about £5. As a hobbyiest, I replace my belts every 3 months or so, so it would take me 7 or so years to spend as much on Ceramic belts...

    Good service

Pretty much everything I have ordered over the last few weeks has taken 2-3 working days before they even dispatch it. Not complaining - I know things are understandably slower. Just saying.
