Thin but deep mortise - advise needed

The best drill bit for doing this job in a pillar drill is a modified twist drill. You grind it so the outside forms lips that are only slightly above the center point. This makes it far easier to overlap holes. Like this but far less spur https://www.toolstation.com/lip-spur-drill-bit/p47895...

    Best finish for barrel planter

This has been previously left to dry out too much and the head (bottom) shrank in its width dropping out of its croze (groove). I dare say it was repaired by adding the blocks to stop this . The blocks are too big for for the job, unless it had cupped by that much. A periodic wetting would have...

    Advice about windows

Just saying what I see. Looks like off the shelf doors with a pairmaker applied. Height of doors reduced to allow for a cut down frame where maybe before there was just a bar threshold set in floor ? On door frame cill another seal in the vacant groove will help a bit. The window problems are...

Lifting a K3 Multico Hollow Chisel Mortiser

Mine could be deciphered as 7/2/63? Not sure why but your motor is a different spec to mine... 5.5 AMP 1 HP Didn't lift it in the end, I have a large trunk close to the same height so jacked up a bit and slid a stout length of beech under forming a bridge. Moved it across on this :arrow...

Embarrassing to say I did this for a few months many years ago but I cannot remember how the drips were cut to go round the top of the facia board  I have searched but never quite found a definitive answer. Any help appreciated thanks. Andy

Lifting a K3 Multico Hollow Chisel Mortiser

I reckon it'll be the same one. It's the slinging position, that if someone has done it, would help without me experimenting. I'm thinking a strap round the back of the pillar and up between the head guides with a bar to key it in. I have garage roof joist and pulley set up. If you easily have...

Lifting a K3 Multico Hollow Chisel Mortiser

I am replacing the wooden stand under my K3 model on my own and would like to lift it vertically without taking it apart. Has anyone done this? Also, not so important but to save me struggling, do you know the mounting bolt hole centres please ? Cheers Andy

Are my chisel sides skewing my bevel?

Which model 36 do you have? The bottom one struggles when the edges are left thick whereas the top struggles with uneven edges. Cheers Andy

Are my chisel sides skewing my bevel?

Are you saying that the bevel looks askew or the cutting edge? If it's the bevel there could be a difference in the thickness of the chisel body itself. I have one that does this and it irks me somewhat  Andy
