Quick question, so I can get on with the job.

Once biked along a canal towpath where the blackthorn hedges had been cut back the day before. Thorns everywhere. Fixed 6 punctures in an hour.

Pease assist with the identity and age of this machine.

Our local hardware store/timber merchant still uses a Sagar machine for ripping timber. Agriculturally simple, but robust and accurate. Pretty sizeable thing too. They have old pit saws hanging on the walls showing how it used to be done. They have a workshop where coffins were made, floored...

URGENT - please read this - scam alert

Look up Tom Mabe on the Web. Inspiration on how to handle these people. A couple of my favourites if I see a suspected number... Hello, this is Commander Johnson, Royal Navy strategic launch control, can I have your authorisation code and target package id. We then get a discussion about how...

You certainly shouldn't leave a wet wheel in a location where it can freeze, I understand that a frozen wheel can crack.

    best budget friendly palm router

Well the Makita spares gear wheel fixed the problem, the unit works perfectly now. If you are in the same boat as I was, you just need the gear wheel. I bought a new wheel and the shaft it sits on in case there was some incompatibility.. there wasn't, all the excel bits were the same as the...

    best budget friendly palm router

Just for info, I bought one of the excel bases for my makita palm router. 10ukp odd including p and p. It doesn't work. The little cog wheel used to adjust depth of cut is wider than the makita one, so it jams up in the serrations when you try to use it. It may work on the excel router, but it...

Chai, now I come to think about it, yes lights seem to be on cordless tools, not corded.

I've got the corded Makita, can't fault it. However given the type of construction which shrouds the cutter, a light would be nice, I think some of the other brands include a light? The excel tool at the top of the page looks just like the Makita original.

I'm thinking painted or manyve Yacht varnished sides, and natural or oil finished Oak dowels, but as beech is mentioned above, I'll maybe use Beech in lieu of Oak. again, thanks all

Ply it us then, thanks all for input. Graham, I've not had any experience of the iron on edging, so no idea of it capabilities, but using a small edge radius sounds like it should act to stop splintering. Again thanks all.

Folks, I've been asked to make one of these for my grand daughter. It is a climbing frame as shown, but when turned over and filled with cushions it make a sort of rocking chair. The cross pieces will be Oak rods, but I need a bit of advice re the semi circular side bits. Plywood would be an...

Does everyone of a certain vintage store little odds and ends in Golden Virginia tobacco tins? I do, they house my small drill bits, feeler guages and a set of tiny screwdrivers... as above, be interested to see what is in that tin.

    Festool Vibrating Doodad.

I've got a corded fein. I don't think there is much of a vibration. It is a heavy beast though. I bought a cheap one years ago to do a job, then saw a fein being demonstrated. I bought the fein straight away and gave the cheap one away. They were light years apart in term I'd build quality...

    adhesive

Just to close the circle here folks, I used a contact adhesive from screwfix. I did the job in stages, circa 12ins at a time and held the very flexible melamine in place manually for a few minutes before doing the next stage. I sort of rolled the melamine up from the bottom in stages I'd you get...

1/4 Trend router bit set at almost half price

Usual thing though, I bet many of us have got sets like that and half of the cutters remain unused. I don't buy sets now, just individual cutters as I need them.

Withdrawn Myford ML8 lathe for sale, advice sought

Thanks fellas, but the post is of some vintage now, I've been happily turning on my coronet herald for about 18 months. Given time constraints and the need for space , I gave it to another forumite, who is a pretty regular poster.
