Disaster..so close to this months challenge!

Can't find the second half of my first attempt, it got too fine and flew off at 2500 revs never to be seen again! Phil

Ambitions too great for pocket and bravery?

A picture of the tools would be good as well so we can see what type of chisel they are (were). Phil

    Need help

Sounds like you could arrange a swap deal! Wives or tools?   Baldhead Well mines been round the click one (or twice), running gear is starting to show signs of age as is the bodywork, but a damn fine baker and cook, and regular supplies of nibbles and tea to the workshop...

    Need help

That's what my missus wants, but I have the lathe not the flat work tools. Phil

    Swept back bowl gouges

I made. The same mistake, 15 slots will be over kill! Four live homeless on the bench now, not unloved, just homeless, awaiting a summer rack refit. Keep away from the For Sale section on here. All the extras, inc the Elsworth ( a beast of a gouge, but so versatile on bowl work) were spotted...

    Pro edge jig setting

It certainly took a little re shaping! Once done though it comes off the 120 grit ready to use. I might try 240 another day, but I just wanted to get on and finish making something for the challenge. Impressed with it so far. Phil

    Pro edge jig setting

Hi Graham On the bowl gouge jig, the rake is set by aligning an arrow to a number. The pivot is numbered 1 to 6 The collar secured by an Allen screw is part way up the column. I would like the number the arrow aligns to and the distance in mm from end of round column to bottom of collar...

    Pro edge jig setting

Evidently there are optimum factory settings as supplied, but they don't get left alone when one just has to play. Phil

    Pro edge jig setting

Absolutely! Manuals are for wimps and really a last resort when all else fails. Phil

    Pro edge jig setting

Hi all Unpacked my new pro edge plus from Yandles today and spent a couple of hours playing. Re shaped and honed all the gouges and scrapers a treat. They were all done on a wet stone before so had to remove the hollow grind. Came indoors and read the manual fully  and it said...

    Best blonde joke ever?

My offering  A plane is on its way to Detroit when a blonde woman in economy class gets up and moves into an open seat in the first class section. The flight attendant watches her do this, and politely informs the woman that she must sit in economy class because that's the type of...

Starting our own business - things I need to do?

My previous business was a partnership, and a very good one that lasted 17 years, but I had 51% when business decisions were made. It is very difficult working on a strictly 50/50 basis when decisions are to be made an there are two different view points. All profits though were shared 50/50...

    Ferm lathe

And strangely I've had my Ferm 10" table saw for over 15 years and it has, and still does give stirling service. It's powerful and has taken a lot of abuse from me over the years re sawing board sheets, cls timber and 3x2 and beyond to make all manner of stock for projects. It's not industrial...

    Re clicker pop up waste

The whole of the plug on mine comes out just by gripping it on both sides and pull up. The clicker part comes out with the frame around it and can be cleaned separately. Phil

    Drive Centres

I used to mark the drive end centre, use a rubber mallet to tap the drive centre in to get the blades seated. When put on the lathe the tail stock re-seats the drive and adds pressure where trying to use tail pressure alone to seat it just didn't dig it in enough. When you get to like turning...

Hegner lathe. Do you have one ?

Know what you mean, that's why I scabbied the cash on New Year's Eve figuring it was a loan from brother that I could warrant buying him a pint or two till I paid him back ( which I have now) rather than paying the increased price. I can feel your eagerness from here to start spinning wood. :D
