Should I shred or should I burn?

I've got one of these to give away. Needs a new blade, but is easy to change, and they're double edged so you just reverse them when one side wears out. West London if anyone's interested.

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

I cook rice with the absorption method which is basically the same as you. Wash the starch off thoroughly. 2.5 parts water to rice, bring to a boil. Cover/ simmer on the lowest heat for 8 mins then leave for 10 but never removing the lid beforehand. I usually get perfect fluffy rice although...

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

This may sound stupid but I've been doing it for quite a few years now when cooking.... If you're gonna cook vegetables, bring them to the boil and then turn the gas/electric off. Carry on preparing the rest of the meal and the said veg should be nicely done by the time you need them. if not...

So, isn't it about time the rights of a consumer were upgraded in law?

There's a little known caveat of UK consumer law that states goods sold "must be deemed to have a reasonable merchantable life". If you look at the small print on the Apple web site they acknowledge that as part of UK Trading Standards, and will repair/replace hardware faults up to 6 years, I...

Track saw rails . . . which one works for my saw?

Traffic lights work in a set sequence, so even if you can't differentiate between the colours easily you (should) know the order for signalling. When I joined the BBC it was mandatory to pass a colour blindness test, partly for electrical safety and partly for rigging circuits in dim lighting...

Track saw rails . . . which one works for my saw?

The reason it changed to Brown-live, Blue-neutral, Green/Yellow- earth was I believe to overcome the most common form of colour blindness Red/Green
