    Joke Thread III

So the rabbit says I'll have one of each toasted. Starts eating and gets to the end of the 3rd sandwich, starts to choke violently and promptly drops dead. His spirit slowly leaves the body and floats up to the pearly gates where St. Peter is doing the entrance register. He asks the rabbit...

    Joke Thread III

I was working in Tokyo a couple of years back and went into the biggest department store to buy my wife a souvenir. I approached a middle aged female shop assistant and armed with an English to Japanese App on my phone asked if I could purchase a Kimono for my wife..... With a look of abject...

    Strat neck faulty

There is another thing that catches people out with Strats and tuning. Are your neck and middle pickups too close to the strings? The magnetic fields from these damp the overtones and can be a real problem. I agree with everything profchris says but I don't tend to do Strat or Tele setups this...

What is it with Granite worktop suppliers

As I understand it, with a CC you have some sort of guarantee in case of any dispute provided it cost >£100. The CC company can quite easily claw the money back from the supplier. With a bank transfer you have little or no protection. It maybe that they've had customers in the past who have...

Guitar fretboard - maple, what finish?

usually 7.25 inches on vintage and 9.5 on modern Fenders, 12 inch radius is usually found on Gibsons. If it's a cheap copy try a poly finish. Fish glue for fret slots, or water thin CA applied at the fret ends after trimming but be careful it's a pain to use.

    Stuck on this one..

Use small croc clips or pliers as heat sinks, like you would when soldering delicate components in electronics.

    Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Hi Mike sorry to hear your Aortic problems. My Dad had an Aortic bypass that was good for 18 years (on top of his triple heart bypass). What killed him eventually was the bloody Xmas tree my parents had in the garden in a pot which they dragged in every year. Of course every year it got bigger...

    Gout 😥

I'm a bit wary of Naproxen. We (the wife and I) bought 2 boxes of 250 tablets over the pharmacy counter in Manhattan and bought it back to the UK as it's only available on prescription over here. We bought it to help with Arthritis pain. My wife ended up in Intensive care after a month or two of...

Without Beer, People are Going to Find Out

Kingfisher in India gives you a tremendous hangover as it's full of sulfites, and believe me it's a nasty hangover. Guinness in the UK tastes the same as it does in Dublin/Ireland as it's all brewed over there now. The secret to good Guinness is how the lines are maintained.

    Luthier Tools

Yeah the Stewmac stuff can be hideously expensive, but a lot of it is designed with 'pro' guitar builders/repairers in mind. Plenty of other ways to achieve the same results, but if you're doing it for a living time is money. My old mentor would've loved a lot of the catalogue when he set out 50...

    Soldering question...

You can also just hold the end of the wire on a 3-5mm chisel bit on the soldering iron and the coating burns off as you tin it.

    Luthier Tools

In my (humble) experience "buy cheap, buy twice". I get a lot of stuff from StewMac who are expensive for tools and some consumables but they give a lifetime warranty and their customer service is excellent (you don't need every gadget they make though). If you buy the yearly membership plan...
