    Wooden handle screwdrivers

I really like old turnscrews and this post has prompted me to dig out a few pics of some in my tool chest. I think the longest example here is about 25''.

    AndyT`s Bench.Talk.101 now on YouTube

@toolsntat Re the 'Tuckwell's Tools Show', I think that Andy did very well and it wouldn't surprise me at all if there's more yet to come... Tuckwell's Tools 2. 3. and 4? Not to mention that rather interesting lathe in the background. These are the 3 other talks that I look forward to, 1...

    Old Woodworking Tools

Hi, my friend, this plane didn't belong to my father - what I said was 'but had it once belonged to my father'.

    Old Woodworking Tools

It looks somewhat similar to this shoulder/rebate plane of mine made by Stewart Spiers... This example is in perfect condition and it came with the previous owner's name stamp; it's marked No 6 on the iron and on the infill. This lovely old plane - bought off of ebay in 2019 - cost me £185...

    Little Old Plane

Many thanks for your reply, my friend. Much appreciated. I don't have time to check my information at the moment but I seem to remember Oliver Sparkes using a similar method on one of his builds.

    Little Old Plane

I bought this cast bodied mitre plane a couple of years ago and the mouth was made fine by inserting a dovetailed piece in front of it... hope that makes sense.

    unusual mortise gauge. identity ?

Andy knows his onions - the Marples name is the stuff of legend as far as I'm concerned.

    unusual mortise gauge. identity ?

These are rather nice, Chris - any makers mark on them? As you say, some you win and some you lose, but the urge to take that leap of faith is so strong... Grin! Regards, Ted.

    unusual mortise gauge. identity ?

By coincidence, I've only just got the gauge in the bottom left of the pic... They all seem to be rather rare birds.

    unusual mortise gauge. identity ?

This gauge is on page 74 of the David. R. Russell book as being made by Fenton & Marsdens.

    Two Foot, Four Fold

It would seem that sellers are trying to get around this by advertising them as 'probably/possibly made of bone'...

    H. Ellis & Sons

Does anyone know if H. Ellis ever made combination mortice/marking/cutting gauges? I'm trying to track down the maker of such a tool in my collection - no name on it but it's stamped Patent No 10786 and it also has a Rd No 123194 mark. Here's a photo of the gauges.
