    Monmouthshire Waggon

A slow day today first off i did another check of measurements and found that one of the pieces did not match the thickness of the shafts when I checked with the plans they showed them the same but the cutting list and diagram of the piece in question match what I cut it to. Have now cut it as...

    Monmouthshire Waggon

Just getting back into this build kept getting moved around the workshop due to other bits being made. At the moment trying to make what I call sub-assemblies which when complete can just be assembled into the finished waggon. There is still plenty to do including the wheels which I tend to...

    Monmouthshire Waggon

I have had to work from a book on this as the plans that I started with went into hiding as I put them somewhere safe after most of yesterday and an hour this morning of searching they were found. The book scale is different from the plans Back on track but still not a great deal was done as it...

    Monmouthshire Waggon

Made a start by cutting out lap joints on the swivel assembly top bar as well as the matching ones on the underside of the main waggon bed. Glued in place and clamps removed A quick photo of through mortice and tenon joints to give an idea of what scale I am making joints at

    Monmouthshire Waggon

I have neglected this project for too long so today I cleared the workshop benches and other surfaces. The parts for the waggon are now on the bench so that I can get and complete it. More to follow shortly

    Selection of Boxes

There was a couple of moments that it nearly went wrong but quick thinking this was avoided. Talk about making it up as I went alone and still show the correct way to do something and end up with a piece as well    and then to go on and show how to put another pattern on a...

    Selection of Boxes

Thank you, Chas and Kim. Another box which was not on the to-do list as I have prepared blanks for the boxes but yesterday we were meant to have a professional demonstrater at the club who did not turn up(at this time reason unknown). I ended up demonstrating all afternoon and this was one from...

    Selection of Boxes

Well at this stage one at least but as I am going to make a few over the next week or so I decided to post them here as I make them. Today's effort is Laburnum finished with sander sealer and woodwax22, I would have done more but I stopped to cook the wife a meal for a change. And yes she is...

    Record Coronet Herald

if you look at the versa chuck you can select the backplate to suit the thread on a lathe. You can also buy jaw carriers to suit a number of different manufacturers jaws. So if you already own jaws then changing them on this chuck is easy. I have just bought one and so far very happy with it. I...

    Spinning Through the Wood Pile

Hot glue guns are great for this. Have been using them quite a bit lately especially when I find a nice piece that is too small to have a tenon or other fitting on them. I did it on the London plain offset bowl not because the wood was to thin but the type of holding that I wanted.

    Ash Bowl

Lovely piece of wood and a simple design leaving it near to what Ray left it at. A great loss to the woodturning community

    A couple of boxes

Two boxes turned today the spalted one was very punky so a good soak in thinned sander sealer and left to dry before turning did the trick along with some very sharp tools. Many people ask about turning punky wood and this shows it can be done. The second is American Black Walnut the lid it...
