I like the shape of the hollow form it is well preportioned, but feel that the little base does nothing for it. As for the staining, the black is good but would like to see maybe a red, blue or green complementary colour. Other than that a good piece but please remember this is just my thoughts...

Chronos is another place to get drive centres from MT1 drive centre and Steb drive and revolving centres. As there is no through hole when using these buy a thread protector/extractor to screw onto the exposed thread

A thread protector will not help in removing a chuck or faceplate, the protector is removed when using a faceplate or chuck. But it is an essential piece to have for turning between centres and using a 2 or 4 pronged drive centre.

I agree that it is a good chuck and has the facility to change the backplate if upgrading as well as being able to take various makes of jaws, but it is a heavy chuck maybe a lighter one for this lathe

Just finished this Chestnut Burr today it stands 6 1/2" tall by 6 1/2" across. Finished with sander sealer and satin lacquer, I then gave it a wax with woodwax22 as the satin finish was not what I wanted but the high gloss would have been too glossy. C & C Welcome
