    Elu Lathe

If like many lathes the tailstock should have a Morse taper in it you need to find out what it is and then you can buy a Morse taper adaptor which has a chuck on the end.

    Barley Twist

The problem with turning tools even though they are sharp they are nowhere near as sharp as carving chisels so it would make harder work of it unless you want to spend ages getting them razor-sharp. Better off getting the microplane as Doug suggested

    Coloured Hollow Form

    Coloured Hollow Form

These are water-based stains which I applied by airbrush it is a double-action type which means I can control the amount of paint that comes out. I started colouring with that set and replaced them with the full-sized bottles as I tend to use them a bit.

    Coloured Hollow Form

Pulling out some of the wood from the unknown woodpile I decided to turn this hollow for with the intention of giving it a total coloured look but on turning it I went for a transparent coloured look and found some very interesting grain in it. 4 1/2" X 4" coloured with intrinsic water-based...

    Barley Twist

Barley twists can be made with some careful marking out and either a carving chisel or even a round file/rasp. Not sure if you wanted to put a picture up as there was nothing there

    Feathered bowl

I have had someone who is very well up on their timbers say it is sycamore. Thank you Kim I have coloured wood with grain like this in the past and it can bring out the grain fantastic but this time I decided to go with the natural look

    Chuck removal tips

I can never understand why people feel the need to make up washers of any kind. I have been turning for over 10 years and never had problems removing a chuck or any other accessory that needs to be screwed on. I have a clean up every time I remove the chuck that includes the chuck and headstock...

    Feathered bowl

    Natural edge x 2

Very nice Kim like the first one better I did one similar to that but did manage to remove the foot using a jam chuck right in the bottom but still had to remove the very last little bit by hand. It can be a little daunting when trying to remove a foot on such a piece. Never mind it still looks...

    Feathered bowl

Not apple as I have some and not the same. Got plenty of chatter even with the sharpest of tools when I hit the feathered area but got there in the end. Veg patch all dug and seeds planted in the greenhouse as well as direct-sown seeds in there respective beds.

    Feathered bowl

Thought it about time I did some turning so took a couple of hours out from doing the garden and working on another bowl which seems to be taking forever. Not sure of the wood as it is an old rough turned piece from some time ago which did not have any bark or leaves to identify it. Finished...

Small pieced form - (Now finished)

Coming along great love the coloured panels. I have so many ideas from some of the well-known potters. It is great when people give credit to some of the masters

    Warm wood

I agree with Kim. Many times, especially with Oak(being very dry and hard) and a sharp tool I have turned the speed up and the wood comes off warm but that is my own fault.

Bowl in Bowl - Practice Piece

A very good attempt and what you have done regards turning looks good. You already know that you made a mistake which is something you have learnt for the next go it is these that make you a better turner. The pull out does need a sander sealer but allow it to dry overnight to harden may help...
