    Lathe upgrade, one more question...

I have just looked again and realised that the easy change system can't be used with this lathe my appologise everyone for my previous post. I see that the extension has feet under it.

    Lathe upgrade, one more question...

You don't need to move the lathe for either position just set it up at the front as for normal turning

    Lathe upgrade, one more question...

By using the plate system it allows for the extension to be unclipped with the use of a single knob and repositioned either at the end or on the front. So it does not get in the way when using the lathe

    Having fun with cherry

Well as of 5 minutes ago the cherry vase has moved a little and a very small split appeared in the bottom but does not go all the way through. I did expect it to be worse than this concidering that it is Cherry and was still very wet as well including the pith in the piece.

    Having fun with cherry

Movement of wood varies from species to species if a piece is turned wet and to a constant thickness including the base it may move to varying extents rather than split which can happen when it is in log form. Sanding wet does certainly reduce dust I used Lemon oil in this case which sanding wet...

    Having fun with cherry

    First hollow form

Well done on a first, shape is good. It is always nerve-racking for the first and the second becomes a little easier. As you may have already found out plenty of stopping, measuring and carry on in pieces like this
