Freeview box compatability with a new TV

Looks like things will be OK, as we have one scart socket, so thats the DVD player sorted, and two HDMI's for the Humax. Ahh! the joys of modern technology.

Freeview box compatability with a new TV

We need to get a new TV and the one we like the look of (LG 32") comes with a built in Freeview box, which I assume is fine, but we have a lot of stuff recorded on a separate Humax box, that provided that service for us as well as acting as a digi recorder. So will we be able to play the stuff...

    Counterfeit and 'Knock-off' Tools

I can't really afford LS or QS planes new so dabble in the 2nd hand market, with an illogical preference for Record. Guess I'm attempting to put both companies out of business by insisting on buying dodgy Stanley knockoffs instead of consigning them to the scrap bin. P.S anyone got a...

    Counterfeit and 'Knock-off' Tools

It funny how similar all my 19th C molding planes look to each other, no wonder we Brits buy cheap copies, just look what our Victorian ancestors got up to. Oh sorry I forgot - they were just generic!!

    Counterfeit and 'Knock-off' Tools

This is true, a few years ago a guy wandered into my workshop and wanted to buy several lengths of 6mm wire to make something he had just invented, which he was sure was going to be the way to his fortune. Excited at being in at the birth of a new marvel I finally got him to tell me what it...

    Cheap Piller Drill Lidl

Got mine this morning, and for the price paid it is what it is, quiet, with non determinable run out at full extension. The belt guard is a tad flimsy in plastic. The little booklet that comes with the machine implys that 10mm was originally the upper drill size, but the quite reasonable chuck...

    Myford ML8 - should I get one?

Interesting, I always thought a Viceroy was an upmarket Boxford - learn something new everyday!

    Myford ML8 - should I get one?

A Denford Viceroy would be nice, but that's the posh version I believe. G

    Myford ML8 - should I get one?

Thanks for all the advice, I will pursue this a little further, and see where we go. Wish I could find a nice Boxford 4 1/2", at the price, it was the hunt for one of them that turned up the Myford (Pun for free). G

    Myford ML8 - should I get one?

I have the chance to get a Myford ML8 on Myford metal stand for less than scrap price. Its the sort that schools used to have back in the 60's which was when I last did some turning. It has all the large lumps, tool rest, tail- stock, and a great non Myford looking bracket for I assume bowl...

That's it, no more H&S for me!

Sue the manufacturers for not supplying a written warning over poking yourself in the eye with their product!
