    Best purchase ever?

If we're talking in the realms of diy and the workshop then definitely the pillar drills. Specifically the Kerry super8

    Random machinery restoration questions (ongoing)

Does anyone have/know who has a meddings M10 ? Im picking one up next weekend for my partners jewellery room, ill likely add it to the project list but i can't find much info and im hoping to see inside the back and figure out how to change the encased motor

    Wadkin AGS10 Rails

Hi mate, I just saw your reply to my original post about parts. I will go out in the next few days and measure how much room i have but think i only need to take about 6-12" off the full length so 24" would be to short for me for a trade. I'm sure you've come across them but its worth taking a...

    Random machinery restoration questions (ongoing)

This one isn't mine, its from the interweb but al the same. The pacera one was made by meddings when they first took over as far as i kno and the only change is the name change on the bottom casting. Its about 31" in length, slow moving.

    Random machinery restoration questions (ongoing)

I will take a look, im trying to avoid any of the re-branded kits on ebay and amazon at the moment and wait for something more substantial for the same price, used but i wont wait much longer before i get on and buy something retail

    Random machinery restoration questions (ongoing)

Thanks for all the advice! I've been talked around, i may even have the taps and dies but they are all bundled in a mixed pile in a spare toolbox currently; ill have to check. I may even record everything and edit stuff down for the tube; i took stock of what ill be doing yesterday and the...

    Random machinery restoration questions (ongoing)

Looking at the profiles i would assume whitworth bolts are stronger due to the longer surface area of the deeper threads- any idea on that? because if not, im probably set on just drilling them out for common, modern threads so everything is metric and matching but if there is an advantage to...

    Which PT????

Ill have one of the previously mentioned DeWalt machines available for sale by then, Its been sat in the shed waiting for me to clean it up and sharpen the blades for weeks. Might be worth looking at the Elu ones though honestly, its the same machine and without the dewalt name they probably go...

    Random machinery restoration questions (ongoing)

Im probably going to have a bunch of little questions as i go through all my machinery this year and figured i would make a place i can come back to instead of posting a new thread every time i can't find a solid answer to a small question. First up- non-metric threads: do you personally...

ultrasonic, compressor, parts cleaner ? if you could only have one?

Thank you for all the tips to using the cleaner. Seems like that will be the way to go currently.. Dissassemble a machine, parts in pots and then in the cleaner while i start peeling paint

ultrasonic, compressor, parts cleaner ? if you could only have one?

Over the winter the shed roof took a beating and at one point it took a week to notice one of the panels had blown away. While things in there aren't at all as bad as you might imagine, its not pretty, so i decided this spring and summer i want to undertake a full restoration overhaul project...

Post a pic of something you have recycled

Post a pic of something you have recycled

Motor and control board taken from a commercial reebok treadmill with a broken running board and bent frame, an obsolete arcade style controller(xbox 360) and the box section and 12mm plate came from a skip, the wheels a friend donated. 2" x 72", 3.5hp, variable speed up to 5000rpm. I mostly...

Anyone own a Makita 9741 and made DIY wheels ?

Evening gents. There is a local gent selling a Makita wheel sander that i currently have on hold for a few days- its not exactly cheap but will make my restoration works a lot quicker. Only thing is it comes with 0 accessories and the wheels are £50-75 + per wheel even from the Chinese bulk...

Thickness planer or thicknesser and planer ?

Thanks for the response, its definitely food for thought. I just got home with the DW1150 and i'm still unsure what ill do. It came with the original manual, spec sheet and Dewalt/elu marketing packet which was a nice touch. It definitely is an upgrade in size and motor horses without taking...

Thickness planer or thicknesser and planer ?

I am just waiting for a friend to come over to help go collect a DW1150 thicknesser planer that i had in mind to throw on the auction site for a good profit but i'm not sure if i'm better off keeping it and selling what i already have. Both have there pros and cons so im curious for opinions...
