    Is anyone using cnc

This threads been an interesting read as i've been considering CNC recently for some ideas; does anyone have a small, cheap, hobby machine that they would recommend? Hard to find good and consistent information under the £3k~ mark, im thinking closer to £300 😂

24 hours in A&E on now

This is hard to read through.. I've been deciding between getting upgrading my table-saw for a safer model or getting a planer/thicknesser; i think i just made my decision! Sure i'm not the only one here who's over-cautious of long hair near the tools tooo_O

Score on some new-to-me carving bits; a few questions..

I did consider this but having a good look its far to clean, it would have taken some serious work if thats the case!

Score on some new-to-me carving bits; a few questions..

Thank you @Doug B I will check that link now, i did have a look around for it but couldn't find anything the first try. As for the arm, having looked around it seems the clamp/vice is missing an arm with a faceplate for holding the workpiece

    Bandsaw for the beginner

Sorry if you've said against second-hand already somewhere above but if you are ok for a little patience you could pick up a Kity 613, a very well regarded machine, for about half of your budget! Also as above if you can find a startrite for the right price you can't go wrong, the band-it 12...

Score on some new-to-me carving bits; a few questions..

Very happy man this evening! I've been thinking about getting a set of flex-cut chisels all year and managed to pick up a small lot of carving bits today for less than the cost of the set! A few questions about bits -Can anyone tell me what chisel the single Ashley iles one is called or used...

    Second-hand tablesaws

Thank you for the recommendations and opinions guys; I think im going to look for a startrite tilt arbor for now. It seems many of the older "small" tablesaws looks and apparently run comparable. The only difference i can really see or find is the wadkin name commands a higher price and the...

    Second-hand tablesaws

I'm back to looking for recommendations of other names to keep an eye for. It was in good outward condition but was not all that in the end, just a cabinet, top, side tables and motor but no raise/lower or tilting mechanism, fence, rails, adjustment wheels, etc 😬

    Second-hand tablesaws

This is the motor; am i right in saying it would need 240v dual option to wire right for a VFD, or is it the 380v ?

    Second-hand tablesaws

£200 complete, not inc the VFD

    Second-hand tablesaws

Might have to wait until tomorrow to see it now due to weather but apparently its the older type as it has a splitter not a riving-knife but it has all the parts inc extension tables. How much would people consider is a good price for one, inc the tables, splitter, fence, etc. Apparently just...

    Second-hand tablesaws

Thank you, very informative and helpful post, I'm expecting to get to see it today. I plan to run it on a VFD which is added cost but im hoping to not have to spend more than that, covering the cost of the saw by selling my own so if it looks like ill have to change the motor ill probably leave...

    Second-hand tablesaws

Blade momentum and gear:belt is another reason for the upgrade actually.. The bearings in the dewalt are incredible for its age; i know because it doesn't have a break and spins for 2+ minuites after power down. I assume its because its a direct drive to some extent. I believe it to be an older...

    Second-hand tablesaws

I've just been offered a Wadkin AGS 10" for what seems a really good price; most of the threads i can find about them are asking questions about parts etc.. Good saw ? Likely less powerful than what i have if its even 1ph but much more solid and sturdy for sure

    Second-hand tablesaws

Afternoon, I know there are plenty of threads about it, but of course as time goes on the market changes! My current tablesaw is a bit of a beast, a quiet 3hp dewalt with a straight fence *but* but being an older contractors model it has no dust extraction, no mitre slots and once i gets to 40~...

    Best bandsaw <£750 in 2020?

The title says it all, I'm still after my first bandsaw and i'm curious on overall opinions of what to buy. Looking at 12-14", floor standing, 1ph I've been keeping a keen eye on startrites and wadkins but i believe it seems to be a universal rule that if i bid one something, a bidding war will...

Startrite 301, Kity 613 or other?

Thanks for the +'s to the Kity guys, sorry for the late reply, its been a very busy few weeks! The "bigger"bits Ill be cutting will mostly be Bandsaw boxes, bowl blanks and fire wood so 5" or 6", green, hardwoods will be going through it regularly. Another thing im curious about the kity is the...
