Veneered panels (a well worn path)

I actually thought of setting up as a sole trader, but I think accounts costs and everything that goes with it is just a PITA. I also agree on the trade account thing,

Veneered panels (a well worn path)

Ah thanks guys, I contacted Lathams who said they only sold trade and contact the depot, which makes me wonder if it's just a loose policy. I do like SL, where I currently am in Windsor, its not too bad to get to and have had some decent wood from there, but a bit of a stretch from...

Veneered panels (a well worn path)

I was reluctant to post this as with "birch ply" seems to be a common occurrence, however everything seems to be posted to suppliers that will only sell to "the trade". Are there any suppliers that sell a good range of veneered and laminate panels to joe public? Places like Latham have a very...

    Spray finishing....the choices

Hi all, I am thinking of buying a spray system....and also a couple of air tools (nailers etc.) but have given myself a dilemma. I'm looking for a gun that will spray internal paints as well as lacquers and stains which as far as i know is just a nozzle change, the real question is do i buy a...

    British squares (possibly odd question)

^^^^^ yes that. I suppose it doesn't indicate much except for the people you mentioned wanting others to "support" them so they don't have to get real jobs and can sit with their video cameras all day. my observation was dumb based on the amount of these "makers" popping up recently.

    British squares (possibly odd question)

Ah yes, I own the 6" version of that combi, which i like but needs some work as its as rough as an old dog on the slidey bit, and i suppose that's what annoys me, i'd rather buy something that just works out the box. Price has never been an issue because i just save a little longer to get...

    British squares (possibly odd question)

    British squares (possibly odd question)

I should probably explain my reason for a thick blade, nothing to do with woodworking, when i was younger i was cutting a lino-esque type floor tile with a stanly knife and a steel rule (obviously not the right tools for the job) under a lot of pressure the knife came off course went over the...

    British squares (possibly odd question)

Never gave Kinex a thought, although they state they are more accurate than grade B...so that's interesting...seems they are better the Wright and Moore in that sense. I will certainly pick up a 3" but I want a 6" 8" and 12" and it seems Workshop heaven dont sell above 6", so i might just go...

    British squares (possibly odd question)

Thanks guys, I think ill just pick up a 6, 9 and 12 moore and wright and see how i get on, it seems the 9 and 12 have 3mm blades also.

    British squares (possibly odd question)

To be honest, most of the American youtubers that use them didnt pay for them....so there's that. I am thinking engineers squares are the way forward, I do like the idea of no-maintenance anodized though. I dont fancy oily or rusty squares

    British squares (possibly odd question)

Morning folks, I have done a fair bit of searching but am yet to find anything useful. I am looking for some squares with a fairly thick blade (like the iphone of marking tools "Woodpeckers") but all i can find are Joseph Marples which have very thin blades. Do we make anything anymore...

    Plane and Chisel Sharpening System

ooohhh wonder if the OP is a long lost relative :D I started with a diamond plate and a Veritas MKII honing guide which was good, I then moved to a Tormek T4 which is also great but there's more or a learning curve IMO, saying that once you get to grips with it it's a great tool. You can...

    Sourcing wood

According to the timber merchant list, Tylers are not hobbyist friendly, can this be confirmed or denied? Cheers

    Low angle jack planes

probably not the place for it, but I have the 62 rider with 2 irons you can have for £100+ P&P if you want. I bought it with aspirations, then never really bothered past sharpening once i think. nothing wrong with it, its a good plane

    YouTube Channel's

Love Bradshaw Joinery, one of the better YT channels, there are no gimmicks or tool review b*ll*x. GID Joiner is another favourite. I have unsubscribed to most US channels as its turning into high street TV and many UK channels are going the same way. I have a couple of UK channels i watch...

    YouTube Channel's

awww another youtube rant thread  "Im not a joiner/carpenter, I'm a maker/content creator" (hammer) (hammer) I must resist or I will go crazy on ranting about YT. There's some great channels....GID joiner for example, but yes theres a high % who make...
