    Lamello Bisco Vs. beech biscuits.....discuss

So the reason I pulled the trigger on it was a perfect storm, black friday knocking off £100, also the jubilee edition (dunno what that means) is coming to an end and the prices are going up in december. they came in stock at the right time so i just though fk it, take the hit now or a bigger...

    Lamello Bisco Vs. beech biscuits.....discuss

And the winning answer goes to....... ^^^^ Thats what i was kinda thinking, for anything that already has a small glue area, then a 4mm wooden biscuit would be better (with wood glue, which is all i use). I guess the bisco are good for adding alignment to larger glue ups in conjunction with...

    Lamello Bisco Vs. beech biscuits.....discuss

never used it, have just seen some joiners on YT use it and thought it might have some benefit in this application

    Lamello Bisco Vs. beech biscuits.....discuss

@Trevanion I already have a domino :) I actually use it quite a lot @ColeyS1 they do look sturdy, but lets say you are using one on a face frame, would you say that you lose effective glue surface due to the chunk o' plastic taking up a decent amount of area? Im not sure im phrasing this...

    Lamello Bisco Vs. beech biscuits.....discuss

I dont actually have an answer that isn't shallow and nonsensical. Im building up a small tool arsenal ready for buying a house and making built-ins etc. looked like a cool addition with the tenso connectors.

    Lamello Bisco Vs. beech biscuits.....discuss

to be honest, I only pulled the trigger because it was £100 off at Axminster on the whole black friday thing.

    Lamello Bisco Vs. beech biscuits.....discuss

this is just my basic non scientific method of being able to snap a 4mm beech biscuit, but not a 7mm plastic one. it might be different lathered in glue and stuffed in a slot.

    Lamello Bisco Vs. beech biscuits.....discuss

Hi all, I appreciate the Zeta P2 is not the most popular tool, however before i rush out and buy a 4mm cutter and a bunch of beech biscuits I wondered how the plastic Bisco compare to traditional beech biscuits. My first thoughts are that beech swell with glue and that plastic obviously...

Took the 'plunge' and bought a cordless router...

This tool was primarily designed as a trimmer, not a plunge router, therefore a lot of people buy it for its advertised use and do not require a plunge base. It's good that there are options to make it a plunge router, and they sell kits that include one, but to say it should come included on...

    How prices change ...

By Festool for investment  you can probably store it in a cupboard for a couple of years and sell it for more than you paid (hammer) I heard Lamello are also following suite for the yearly price increases they are doing on their tools

    Spray finishing....the choices

it seems im back to a turbine, a standard workshop compressor needs to be a minimum of 3.5kw to be able to produce enough FAD and thats way more costly than a turbine and far too big, I was only looking at a 50l compressor to power air nailers etc.

    Spray finishing....the choices

Sage advice, ill take a look at what turbines are available, I know Q-Tech are rebranded Fujis but no idea outside of those 2 main brands. That being said, what are the benefits over a standard workshop compressor and a decent gun? except portability .

    Spray finishing....the choices

I have definitely decided on HVLP with gravity feed, due to the amount of material I will be spraying, i.e. small boxes, small pieces of furniture and wastage as HVLP seems to be much more efficient with less overspray. I guess the choice is now more Graco or Fuji. I am not a decorator or...

    Spray finishing....the choices

Thanks for the reply, I looked at Graco but just cant get past the plastic lol, it also seems to be a choice of combi drill style or something with a hopper and i have no intention of spraying rooms, just furniture pieces with paint or lacquers/PU. its kinda why i looked at the fuji's, metal...

Veneered panels (a well worn path)

My plan for a kitchen would probably be melamine coated ply or something for the carcasses and veneered doors and end panels etc. I wouldnt want to finish inside kitchen cabinets.

Veneered panels (a well worn path)

Do they not get suspicious if you are "self employed" but not actually having a turnover or profit? and would you even list items on your books as you pay for them with other income from a day job? I guess i would need to sit down with someone and ask a load of stupid questions, but first I...

Veneered panels (a well worn path)

Interesting, I was watching the "small business toolbox" YT channel which was going through setting up, registering as a sole trader and this whole insurance and accountancy fees which seemed like a pain in the buttox for the sake of just being able to buy wood and supplies.

Veneered panels (a well worn path)

Thanks Andy, Avon certainly have a good range. is £107 +VAT a good price for 18mm B/BB birch ply? I imagined it to be cheaper than that.

    Mirka or Festool Sander?

I'll pop my head out and say Festool, specifically the Rotex sanders. I haven't used the Mirkas but the paddle thing puts me off a bit. I bought the Rotex 90 and was soo impressed I went and bought the 150. I love being able to put it into gear mode to remove a lot of material fast and then...
