    So using the thicknesser today, I found that once i brought it up to where i wanted it and locked it out, theres about half a turn of play in the wheel (handle), is that normal?

    Issue with getting Record AC400

    you could try Axminster? they are also out of stock but they are pretty good and getting stuff back in and it's free delivery. their craft model is identical to the ac400 and its pretty good, clears up my garage pretty quickly.

    Geared sanders eg. Rotex

    im soo late to this and assume you have already made a purchase, just to chime in, the rotex can also be used for buffing out with the polishing pad in rotex mode. its a wee beast to handle if you get the 150 in geared mode. if doing smaller stuff, the RO90 is also very good.

    get it square, tighten all 6 hex heads then remove one at a time, dab of loctite and put them back, it wont be going out of square again :) bought a lovely wide piece of birdseye maple today and can't wait to see how it's handled by the PT, unfortunately it spent a couple of hours on the car...

    Makita 2012NB Thicknesser SOLD

    Its had very little use as a weekend warrior. £200 collection only from Corsham,Wiltshire Selling to make room for a bigger machine, blades still on first side (they are reversible AFAIK) and cut cleanly.
