yes my thinking is the area before the 4" connection on the machine is greater than 4" and with a 5" hose the 4" connection is going to have an impact, maybe not a huge amount but an impact none the less. im tempted to get a 5" plastic hose connector and the noisy saw out. warranty shwarranty

so what we are saying is, reduce at machine = good, reduce are extractor inlet = bad

My dust extraction journey is taking a slower course than it normally would, but so far i've got as far as upgrading to a 5" flex hose yet my axi PT has a 4" outlet. rather than use a reducer causing a bottleneck, has anyone modified the ports on the tools to make then bigger? cheers

not sure if you can find one, but i have a stanley extension with master slave sockets i used to turn on the extractor....dont use it anymore though as the extractor is now 16a, but it never faltered once.
