    Lidl electric nailer/stapler?

Shows how old I am - all the bikes I've worked on used BA, special cycle threads and the like! The wonders (and common sense!) of metrication. No doubt my Kalkhoff e-Bike is all metric.

    L shape cabinet doors

Not THAT awful! Suspect it's just that that particular example is too heavy and clunky. Our current kitchen has something similar, but much lighter and IMHO, looks at least acceptable. Made bifold doors for the same situation in previous kitchen; looked OK, but with wear in the hinges to the...

Anyone got an idea how to find this leak?

Don't want to be a prophet of doom, but our neighbours have just been out of their house for nearly 12 months while the entire ground floor was ripped up after an undetected leak in the underfloor microbore heating. And in the last months of absence, he developed oesophageal cancer. Can houses...

    Lion wetstone sharpener

Had forgotten the exact style of tank that is fitted. The one I have is not off the Lion (not sure what it's off) but if it's any use to you and you can make a fitting to hold it, it's your's for the postage. This is the item

    Looking for ideas

Nice. Let it weather a bit, and it will look a passable imitation of a (very expensive) stone trough. Plaster some yoghurt on the surface to speed up algae/lichen growth

    Lion wetstone sharpener

Excellent job there, mate. I have a vague memory (like most of mine now) that there is a spare water tank for one of those lurking somewhere in my sheds. Will have a hunt for it.

Series 2, land rover, soft top

Totally irrelevant, but nearly 60 years ago, where I worked we had an early Landrover to get to out-of-the-way experiments. One of the habits I and several other drivers developed when the LR was idling was resting hand on the flat top of the gear lever, ready to put it into gear to start off...

Which bandsaw do I get - Axminster AC1950B or Record Power 250 or something else entirely?

My usual vote for a startrite 352. The best £180 I've ever spent (but that was 30 years ago!)

    Are you “E10” ready?

    Er..... what is Aspen??

Series 2, land rover, soft top

According to Son-in-law in the USA, one way to make a fast buck is to buy old Landrover in the UK, tart it up a bit and ship to the states, where they will pay up to $75k for one. But there speaks a man who had a Lotus Elise...................

    Lion wetstone sharpener

Can have a look at mine to check how it's fastened on, but never had any problems with it. I have the planer blade jig, and it's a godsend. Slow if you use the stone fitted, but made up a disk out of flooring grade chipboard and glued coarse wet and dry paper to upper surface, which is much...

    Metal lathe chuck help!

Not necessarily; rough it out of flat plate of the right thickness, then mount on a faceplate. Which of course you don't have................

Grinder Chainsaw Disc attachment Safety alert

Used a proper Arbortech making a rocking horse many years ago and it scared the **** out of me. Anyone want to buy it????

How should I revive this table?

Judging by the wet/dry pics, it's not French polish. Have you tried the old "reviver" recipe of linseed oil plus turpentine with a dash of vinegar? This cleans off most of the grime and begins to seal the surface. I'd then be tempted to use Danish oil, which is minimal effort and if done...

    Metal lathe chuck help!

I was wondering why the backplate was welded to the spindle too. What does that spindle then fit into/onto? If, as it sounds, you have a metalworking lathe, then you might be lucky if one of the cogs on the mainshaft happens to have a number of teeth which is a multiple of the number of holes...

    Router with best dust extraction

The dust extraction on the (old) Elu MOF098 is pretty good, but it's not a specially comfy beast to handle. My instant thought was also a morticer. If you have a pillar drill, even one of the rather dodgy mortice attachments might be better than a dust storm.

    Myford mystro lathe

Sorry, been a bit slow on this, but discovered that there were a couple of PDFs of scan done some time ago sitting on my hard disk. They cover some stuff which doesn't look to be on Rob's files, so hope they could be useful.

Best way to produce lots of threaded screws in wood?

Either could work for internal thread chasing (external threads you just need flat bar) but might be difficult to hold. If you ground about 1 or 2cm of the studding or tap into a D-shape, then ground the rest to give clearance, that could work. Attached pic of a commercial internal chaser and...

Does anyone recognise this lathe model

Almost certain that motor is 1hp at the most. Even if it is 3-phase, it's small for that rating. Could you get a photo from the other side, which would tell us more? Even if it's free, if it's non-standard nose thread, difficult to change speed etc., it may actually put off your members from...

Best way to produce lots of threaded screws in wood?

With practice, thread chasing works pretty well on a lathe and chasers are very easy to make in any thread you want.
