How toxic is wood when dry

If the dermatitis is caused by some woods then I have an opposition case in that my hands have been covered with dermatitis since I haven't been able to get near my lathe and wood for the past year. Our new house is just around the corner now so I am hoping that it's going to change...

    Routing Letters

I don't use my router very much, but when I do the very occasional sign I use a domed foot on it. I have tried to find examples online, but??? OK, the base I have made is the same size as my Hitachi 1/4" shaft router. It's made from a pine off cut and about 1/2" thick. I turned it on my lathe...

When we lived near Stroud our honey wagon septic tank bloke had "It may be sh!t to you, but it's my bread and butter" On the back of his wagon. It amused me I have to agree. there's some crackers in that lot above

    new lathe daydreams

About 12 years back I converted my old Record CL1 from 1ø to 3ø and have never looked back. It is a different machine now and so much better. I can't remember what kit I have but I had to pay a bit more for the motor because it is an imperial set of pulley wheels. One of our members on here very...

Hollow tailstock centre for centre boring

I'm sorry if that came over as a bit detrimental Pete. There was none intended mate   The reason I know the MT taper is because it was my first lathe.

Hollow tailstock centre for centre boring

They don't appear to do a 1MT version? That's what's on Nipper's lathe. Plus, there's always the chance of a customs tax on stuff from over the pond. It does look a useful bit of kit though.

    Using a Lathe

I look forward to both doing more turning and posting Bob. I am also into radio controlled gliders and one that I'm building at the mo, well for the last 15 or more years  , is a 4 metre scale model of a 1936 German glider called a Habiche. A beautiful gull wing jobbie and when it's...

    Using a Lathe

Ta DB. The plan is by Brian Law at http://www.woodenclocks.co.uk It would be too much hassle to put many photos on here but if you have a quick gander at my web site below it's on there in more detail. I have got it running but the weight that it needs at the mo would take the bearings out...

    Using a Lathe

I haven't been very active on here because of the l-o-n-g move from France back to Blighty. Followed by almost a year in rented with my lathe buried in the small shed outside and now just waiting for the contract exchange on our new to us place. But I do believe that I am getting there and when...

Hollow tailstock centre for centre boring

I have a Record CL1 and the Axy live hollow tail stock centre and they go together well. I also had a drill bit welded onto a length of steel rod, put a handle on the other end and that works a treat too. You still have to pull it out and clear the lands regularly, very regularly. The one you...

    TENS anyone?

I hadn\t realised just how you got it SB, but something has come to mind. About 5 years back I had a big operation on my right hane. 4 hours worth of partial wrist fusion. After that I had horrible problems with my right shoulder. I had tried just about everything I could think of and the bloke...

    TENS anyone?

I sat and watched this for 45 mins this morning and it's quite fascinating. I had never heard of 'fascia' before, but it's well worth a gander https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... WU_DnC9t4I There's a bit of 'human dissection' in it, but if you don't like that sort of thing it's only a...
