The inevitable has happened: replacement jaw screws

2s up for the magnet. When I manage to drop a screw changing the O'Donnell jaws on my C10 Axy chuck it always falls into the large pile of shavings under the lathe. I have tried sifting through that pile a number of times repeating "GOLLY GOSH" several times until I tried the same with a rare...

    Hitachi 1/4" router bearing problem.

That had crossed my mind sunnyb. It would help to belt the hell out of it for not giving up in the 1st place (hammer) (hammer) But Ill bet that the Bosche is quite different to the Hitachi

    Hitachi 1/4" router bearing problem.

Well, the easy bit was getting the armature and top assembly, the bit at the sharp end, out. The collet is also out, but the top assembly bearing seems to be held in place by an interference fit of the shaft on the collet holder. I have tried drifting the shaft out of the housing with no luck...

    Hitachi 1/4" router bearing problem.

I have had a Hitachi M8V 1/4" router for years now and it has just started to sound as if one of the motor bearings is giving up, it rattles/screeches at times depending on the loading. It has been a very good router and although it's fairly old it's only been lightly used. Does anyone know if...

    Happy Easter

Sorry mate but you will always have to pay for anything that I've knicked  It originally arrived to us from my sis-in-law several years back and I have giggled at it each time I've seen it  Glad it did the same for you too. Stay safe and have fun.

    UPVC exterior door stop?

Ta for the explanation Chas. Nev, I'm shocked, truely shocked. Fits me crack indeed, but I do like the cementocrete jnoum idea  I have lashed out and ordered a couple of cabin hooks. One for the kitchen door and the other for the shed door. SWMBO is always 'letting me know' that the...

    UPVC exterior door stop?

A bike kick down would look a bit odd and quite chunky. SWMBO would not approve me-thinks? No sooner done than said Droogs. Quite why they have shown horizontally? but if you click on them they will show correctly.

    UPVC exterior door stop?

Thank you for the quick reply. There is a travel restricter on the top of the door, but that only stops it from opening too far. I had thought about the possibility of a hook and eye going from the door to the window ledge, but I don't know if it would be strong enough. There tends to be some...

    UPVC exterior door stop?

We have just had a new kitchen door fitted and I'm trying to work out how to hold it in the open position? It opens outward and when open the bottom of the door is approx 5 1/2" off of the path. The door is glazed top and bottom and the center bar is in line with the window ledge. I was...

    Electric vehicles

It was the 'plug in' machines. That was why the drivers didn't use their own non refundable electricity. I think that I would have done the same. Why should the employee pay for company miles?

    Electric vehicles

I read an article on EV company cars a little while back. The companies were getting big discount prices because they were getting EVs and then the people driving them were using them purely on the fossile fuel and the attitude was that why should they pay for charging them when the...

    Electric vehicles

The complete argument on zero carbon emmisions is the biggest load of 'merde' this side of creation. All everyone will do is move it to a different place. Energy is indestructable and all that is ever done is to change it from one kind to another. Steel is dirty, batteries are thw same and...

    New lathe

SVB do a search on turning clubs near to where you live and go and talk to the people there. You will probably be able to look at a couple of bits of machinery and see what suits you. By the way, welcome to the slippery slope of turning. Once on the slope you will enjoy the ride :mrgreen...

    no ridgeboard required!!

Blimey, you would have thought that they would have uncoupled all those broken down trucks and not had the one at the front towing everything   :? That's one hell of a load! We used to get a lot of BIG boats on trailers through our local village and they almost touched the...
