I have a 20 odd year old CL1 and when the banjo bets a bit stiff I give it a good wipe on the under side and then wipe it with a cycle chain dry lube. Same goes for the tail stock and the bed bars. After that the only thing I have to remember is to put a little extra weight into the lock handles...
Cover it with polyester resin grp but let the resin gas off all of the styrene gas before putting it in the water or it will go white after a time. That will take 2 to 3 weeks, but it will be fairly well bullet proof as far as the water is concerned.
I am into pyrography a bit and I have a Peter Childs pen on my Janik pyrography transformer. OK, it's a bit more expensive than things mentioned here, but it not only lets me put my initials on anything in a few seconds, it also lets me really personalise what I am doing. The Peter Childs pen is...
It would appear that Jupiter has disappeared behind the Sun ?
Now, if you want real chic you will need to have 3 legs of a chair one colour and the forth a different one. Then you can charge a fortune for it  Especially if you get on telly.
I do so love people who have a poke at folk who have just joined a forum.
I won't say exactly what I mean as I would get chucked off here. And I have been on here for a while now.
I have had a Woodcut True cut CBN wheel for a few years now and wouldn't go back to a white wheel for final touching on my gouges.
I had a total brain cell fade a while back and without thinking touched a bit of aluminium on the CBN wheel. I thought that I had screwed it proper job, but I...
Strange that this thread has appeared for me as at the moment I am trying to sell a Screwfix Trend 12" dovetail jig on Gumtree.
I have a buyer, in London, who wants to collect it by courier I'm in west Wiltshire and just a tad (?) reluctant to let it go that way. I have a SumUp card machine and...
Davy, I took your intended route of changing to 3ø about 10 years back. I have a Record CL1 36 and I fitted a Teco Inverter 7300 C-V. I was living in France at the time but bought it from an English company. It looks as if it's not made any more? I also got the 3ø motor to go with it. I had a...
If this is the same then it sounds as if you have a bargain there Adam.

If I had one then the only thing missing would be an intelligent turner
I have read parts of this thread and all it seems to be doing is getting peoples backs up?
Isn't it time the knives were put away and the thread closed?
Well Brian, that is quite some clock and you should be very proud of it mate!
As I said in my clock thread, I am still having trouble with the friction between the wooden shafts and frame bearings. I am hoping that I can modify the shafts to brass rod and tube bearings on the ends? And I need...
You may well be right J-G? That watch of yours is fantastic mate!
OK, there's now a naked goiat wandering around but what is the rest made from?
Belay that last request. I broke one of my life long regimens and read the instructions below.
It's a bit bigger than mine init, Big time!
The 2 things that I run my hole life by are 1) I never tell porkies and 2) I never make mastikes.
Of course I made the wooden gears for the watch. How else? ⌚ 😇 😇
Thank you Rorton. Like all of us, I love to show what I do, when it goes right
I have to admit that I like things to do with clocks. This is a watch I decided to have a crack at. I didn't 'do' this movement. I couldn't fathom out how to turn the battery? :cautious::cautious:
It stands...
Pascal was after I did mine. Mine was done in Assembler and after the basic course, 3 months solid an a graduation course, I could also add, subtract, multiply and divide in hexidecimal! I have trouble doing all that now in decimal
