It should be ok....maybe your pushing too hard and not letting blade cut....this may slide the wood up the angle ...,forming a compound angle.,,
I’ve done this myself..,,it comes out slightly smaller angle....say something like 40 deg.

Steve
Hello... I have a ELU 3401.....paid £150 for it..... works a treat and is similar to yours but cutting is the other way round.....ie clearance to the right...
Dual speed too......
Hi Richard.
It can fog up a bit but usually breathing causes water residue in mask but to no effect...if it does fog up too much I just stop turning for 5 and lift visor....
I use a Honeywell bionic face shield with a 3m maintenance free dust mask .....works fine for me.
If your that worried about dust you could always wrap a neck snood around then use faceshield and mask

Hiyas.....
I was lucky enough to pick up an ELU3401....twin speed...made in Italy.
Aside from the table ....which perfectly ok, if it had a cast iron thick table it would be brilliant.having said that it’s mounted on a trolley I made and I can move it around the garage to where I need space...
Hi all......I have a set of small/micro hamlet Woodturning tools...presuming they are spindle gouges.
On look g at them I think they have been ground rather too much, the bevel angles are what would call low..
The smallest gouge is 3mm.
I’m wondering what sort of bevel angle they should be...
I’d look out for an Axminster or Record power lathe....I’ve got a 355 Axminster....very happy with it....easy to use too. Not only that they are only n the end of the phone or email....
Hi there.... m e is the same setup as in the picture above.....however I used a blue barrel with no issues at all.....you have to make sure you get the thicker style barrel with metal clamp..
Amazon sell them for around £20
Nope... but I don’t he would sell...I wish. Could find something like those....I suspect he found them in a job lot....they would be great for greenwood turning....nice new handles etc....
Sadly I bet he won’t offer....old cast steel is good...maintains sharp edge....
I have an old billhook I got off eBay....sharpened it and it’s got an edge like a razor blade....it’s circa 1915
