    Garage in winter

Keis do heated motorcycle garments, including gilets and sleeved fleeces. They are well reviewed and can be used with a battery pack. Not cheap but a game changer, my wife loves hers and I borrow it when I can. On the building front try and get some insulation up on the walls and doors...

    Chuck removal

My Dad fit a washer for this reason and it introduced a noticeable wobble, so check it's still running true after fitting.

Making a homemade forge, does anyone have any reccomendations for a suitable blowtorch?

Agreed but if you see a caravan on someone's drive which doesn't look like it has moved, they might be happy to sell you the bottle. Sourcing gas will be easier if you don't need to buy a bottle ?

Where have these been all my life - reverse action tweezers !

Sometimes it's the inexpensive tools which change things. Needed to hold some fiddly little nails still and these tweezers were brilliant. If your hands aren't as steady as they where, then applying pressure to things makes it worse. You press these to open up and then release the pressure to...

Making a homemade forge, does anyone have any reccomendations for a suitable blowtorch?

I don't use the forge an enormous amount so I just have a 5kg bottle. If you are going to be busy you can go to any size if you have the room for it - they certainly supply up to 47kg. It's just a normal propane bottle such as those used in caravans, boats, patio heaters etc.

Making a homemade forge, does anyone have any reccomendations for a suitable blowtorch?

That was my experience with a blow torch fired home made forge. I did get it to temperature but it wasn't even everywhere alongth the length so I would have ended up with areas not hardened. So it went in the bin and I bought a small Devil Forge instead.

    Router with best dust extraction

I've got a DEWALT D26204K (1/4in Premium Plunge & Fixed Base Combi Router), which is pretty good for dust collection. It works best of course when all the router base is flat on the work, so mortices might be ok but if cutting tenons dust will fly everywhere because the bit is exposed ! The...

Making a homemade forge, does anyone have any reccomendations for a suitable blowtorch?

I made my own but whilst it worked, it just showed up its own limitations and I quickly got frustrated with it. I would recommend a Devil Forge (available online). Not expensive and perfect for knife making. There are lots of positive reviews out there. All you need to add is a gas bottle.

    Double sided tape?

I agree with Novocaine, the tape and superglue method is fantastic. Rock solid and easy to prise apart afterwards, perfect for router template work. I use the 3M blue tape.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Based on an idea I saw on the internet. Oak and walnut plus some fancy acrylic offcuts I picked up being sold off at the Harrowgate show. Remember when we could go to shows and buy tools we didn't need !

I was at a craft show and someone had sawn the valve ends off and put used them as light holders (using small LED bulbs and holders). I've seen a chandelier made from them too !

Trend CRT Mk 3 Router Table and Which Trend Router

I have the T11 mounted and by putting the correct socket bit in my powered screwwdriver I have a powered lifting mechanism, which is a great time saver. I still use the manual handle for the fine adjustments.

    Help Choosing A Chuck

I have both a Rutlands and a Sorby (the Patriot). The Sorby works perfectly, the Rutlands has a slight wobble - so very easy for me to recommend one over the other.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Made a wall clock based on a design I saw selling on the internet for a lot of dollars. Rim is mild steel formed into a circle with my Metalcraft RBR tool, then just about muddled through welding the join. Then used various bits of timber lying around.
