    Burnisher vs screwdriver???

Hey all, I understand that the hardened steel of a screwdriver is hard enough to do the job of a burnisher when adding an edge to cabinet/card scrapers. Is this a fair statement or has experience proved other wise? Eoin

what thickness / gauge should ducting be?

Is this why plastic pipe is not used? I often wondered if a piece of copper wire was run through to earth the static that it would do. Smoother surfaces - better performance???

    Forstner Bit/Saw Tooth Bit

Whats the difference between these two bits. What I'm really asking is what exactly is a saw tooth bit as most people are familiar with the forstner bits. Is there much of a difference in quality? Are saw tooth bits any good? Eoin

LN Vs LV low angle jack plane

So, it looks like the LV for me. Dieter Schmid is the cheapest so far for me - exchange rate and shipping included. No import either to worry about. I've compared Dieter with Axminster, Classic Hand Tools, Rutlands and **** Gmbh. Tilgear don't stock the LV planes. Direct from Lee Valley was...

    Plane storage

I've enjoyed this thread so far so I felt the need to display my own pathetic effort which is long obsolete due to the infamous slope. Note all the silica gel. Conditions in my part of the world are unbelievable. I'm watching a new Record BS500 age in front of my eyes...

    Granite Attachment

Would it not be possible to epoxy some form of nut into a small core/hole in the base of the granite. A bolt could then be fastened from the legs, through a slot rather than a hole, up into this nut. One of those threaded gismos for break down (MDF) furniture would probably be a better option...

    Yet another wooden planemaking question.

I seem to remember Chris Schwartz explaining how he keeps his 'round sole' plane iron edged. Essentially he uses the plane to create a 'female' profile on an piece of wood which is then used to edge the blade with sand paper or honing compound or something. It might be food for thought when...
