Identifying motor (plate missing) Photos now available

Will try and get some. I am not very good at phone tech but will see if my son or partner will do it for me. Its a well built saw and bloomin heavy despite its small size. I just like fixing things and this is next on my list. So far have managed to free up every nut and bolt. It must have been...

    Cleaning wooden decking.

Try BAC50 It will kill and remove algae, lichen and moss etc. They use it on roofs and decking. Its the ingredient in some decking cleaners. Another option is spray with vinegar which will kill the algae.

Hi there I have old small saw with no manufactures mark with a sliding table that I am fixing up. I believe it may have originally been for aluminium window frames as there are aluminum chips present. The blade height is not adjustable and takes a tct blade 5 3/4" diamater and 7/8" bore.Its...

Where can I get this coil spring

Depending on how strong the spring you need try www.airgunspares.com They do replacement titan springs or original springs. The Diana model 25 air rifle has a fairly weak one.

    Kity 439 Planer/thicknesser Jammed

I had the same problem with my old elu. It jammed between the rollers and base and put so much tension on the height adjustment it made it impossible to turn the plastiuc handle.

    Kity 439 Planer/thicknesser Jammed

How easy is it to remove the top plates. It might be easier get to the piece of wood. They look as though they are bolted down with those allen bolts. Even if they were loosened without complete removal it might give you a bit of extra play to remove the wood. Also meant to mention to mark...

Boarding loft and loft ladder advice

My folks have an old ramsay loft ladder which was expensive but absolutely solid. Its even got a hand rail. I have a cheap one (cant remember maake but probably from wickes) which you wouldn't want to be carrying anything heavy as its pretty flimsy. Depends on how often and whats being stored...

    Best stain for a lodge.

A friend of mine sprayed his slatted fence and put lovely lines on the nextdoor patio which was brand new and made of expensive sandstone slabs which absorbed the paint. Neigbour wasnt happy as the patio cost over £10,000 and the stain couldn't be removed. There still trying to find a way of...

    Best stain for a lodge.

I have used sadolin classic and its very good. Easy to apply and lasted so far for 5 years and still ok but now needs a recoat in places. Its used on a timber built Aviary. When I get round to recoating I intend to use Sadolin extra durable. I read that its best to use classic as a base coat...

    Recycling hardwood windows

I have an old hand plane which I don't like much. Not sure of the make but its too light compared to my others but I use it for removing paint etc once I have checked for nails. If I do hit one its not the end of the world and I just resharpen it. I also use a Nokta pointer metal detetector to...

    Oak vs treated softwood gravelboards

If your using oak posts and are supporting a local sawmill I would get oak boards from him. I used to have a good few small sawmills around me but alas they have all gone or been swallowed up by the big guys. You can still get old style creosote for treating but I think it may be for...

    Oak vs treated softwood gravelboards

The gravel boards you get are poor and don't last any time at all even if they are treated unless you can pick up slow grown larch. Same as fence posts these days. A composite board or concrete will last for ever but I would base it on the life span of the posts which depending on the ground I...

    Parkside performance?

There good tools. May not last as long as say Makita or dewalt etc but they are a lot cheaper and for the price you can't go wrong. Just make sure you register the guarantee etc. I did find that at first the battery life was very poor but after fully charging a couple of times was very impressed...

240v standard supply to 3 phase

Looked into that a few years ago. We have an old farm which had split phase and the cost was huge. The supply was at that time from poles accross fields. It was going to cost thousands per pole to get three phase ran. I counted about 10 so it was going to cost me in excess of £50000 which would...

    Parkside performance?

I have had parkside tools from lidl and they are very good for the price and last a good while (don't think they would last 10 years though) Never bothered with spares etc. as I tend to use them to the max and when they give up just get another one. The only problem I have had with the the...
