    Cordless trim router help!

Bit late but I've just bought a Makita DRT50 (Cordless) this week and I can't praise it enough. The sheer power is equivalent to a corded trimmer. Only downside is that everything is an optional extra. Extra's are cheap between 10 and 20 pounds it soon racks up.

    Machine Mart VAT free offer

Some decent savings to be had and the Clarke stuff is not all bad. I don't buy serious stuff from their range but have a pillar drill, morticing machine and belt sander and they're fine

Took the 'plunge' and bought a cordless router...

Excellent. That's what I do too. I upgraded from the push in Makita tools to slide about two years ago and spend about 3K so worth looking after.

I guess looking after tools properly is not a done thing then?

    Third party replacement batteries

I would recommend sticking to Makita branded batteries. Yes, they're not cheap but the aftermarket ones aren't brilliant. I bought one of the aftermarket ones for my torch so I can find my way back to the house from my workshop at the end of the garden and it's fine but if I use it in my Makita...

Took the 'plunge' and bought a cordless router...

I now am the proud owner of a Makita cordless router but what seemed quite a bit of money to fork out is nothing compared to what's to come. It's like getting an app on your phone with 'in app purchases' I have quite a few of Makita 18v tools and they always come with some or most...

I bought something similar from Lidl a few years back but haven't used it yet...

Has Midlands Tool Suplies gone under?

Are the big enough? And how do you know when they're full. Obviously you have poke and feel  but mine is situated in it's own little outhouse.

Has Midlands Tool Suplies gone under?

I usually cable tie the bags and there's always someone that comes and collects for their rabbits or other smelly rodents but I might have to charge them for the bags... My local recycling centre told me to leave the bag at the end of the skip so they could empty it at the end of the day as...

Has Midlands Tool Suplies gone under?

Cheers Mike, They used to be just over a pound a bag from MTS but everywhere else they're around 3 quid a bag. At the moment I'm filling a bag a week. I'll have a look at dust spares. Cheers

Has Midlands Tool Suplies gone under?

I've used these in the past and tried to get some dust collection bags ordered but the phone goes to a full mailbox, the website is down and the eBay account is no longer registered. I can't seem to find any plastic bags for my Fox F50-842 for a reasonable price anywhere.

    Aldi wood planner

I bought a corded Clarke planer from Machinemart years ago. I'm pretty sure it's the same rebranded thing as all other 30 quid planers on the market. It actually works fine and I've planed some hardwood doors with the thing fine but they're not a nice tool to work with due to the foot plates...

Well, I pulled the trigger on my first bandsaw!

Same here! It might have been you pointing me in the right direction but I've had 8 or 9 blades from Ian and I'm more than happy.

Bought the Titan Bandsaw, replacing it with a Record BS250

I think you'll be quite happy with the BS250. I bought one last year or year before and it was a revelation coming from a Clarke CBS190. If you're ordering blades, try Ian at Tuffsaws. Top tip on drilling through the bottom plastic covers. I usually bend them out of the way... :?

    Doweling jig advice needed

I think Mike just summed it up pretty good there. Now, my use for the dowels is just to align panels for the end user so they can screw the screws in without going wrong. It’s vary rare I make flatpack stuff but sometimes I have to as shipping costs can vary immensely especially going abroad...

    Doweling jig advice needed

I'm making some kids table and chairs. Usually fully assembled but a few people asked about flat packing these. The only reason I want to use dowels is so that the panels align and the recipient can just mindless screw them together .

    Doweling jig advice needed

Not very often I use dowels but sometimes I need to. I have bought the starter set Wolfcraft makes (http://www.wolfcraft.com/en/products/p/ ... index.html ) which is OK but awkward when a dowel near the edge of a board is needed. Then I recently bought one of these...

    Bandsaw TPI help needed

Got the 10TPI blade through from Saw Master and it's cutting pretty smooth. Quite slow so I expect the 14TPI to cut even slower. I might just order an 8 and 6TPI to see what's working best.
