    Impact driver bits

I use Milwaukee PZ2 bits with Milwaukee magnetic holder. 25 bits in a box and I'm on the second bit two years in. Wera bits are exceptionally good. I can't remember snapping any of them. Makita gold, not so good....

Cordless tools - Best Platform To Choose?

All my battery tools are Makita. I used to use Bosch but the Makita (push in battery) tools I bought about 15 years ago were so much better than the Bosch back then so I've stuck with Makita and upgraded them all to the Li Ion batteries. I've got 17 batteries shared over 9 tools and been told...

Router table and router with lift

Not sure. I have only ever used stop blocks on the fence T track to be honest. Then again, I might need to use the featherboards at some point when using large stock. I like the box! I never seem to get the time to make something like that. The router table has the same router bit in 95% of...

Router table and router with lift

Thanks I used a piece of kitchen worktop with a homemade aluminium plate before and a makeshift fence. This table I’m quite happy with but it’s not perfect. I don’t have the need for the t track on the table no more as I’ve done away with my feather boards and would like some steel rulers in...

Router table and router with lift

I like the look of the Incra insert plate with clean sweep insert rings. Something to set some pennies aside for. I use a Triton TRA001 in a homemade table. For the top I glued 15mm melamine to 18mm MDF and it has been flat/straight for the last 4-5 years. I use a Trend insert plate which does...

    Vacuum/dust extractor for power tools

As mentioned before you'll probably want two different extractors. I started out with one but now run four dust extractors. I use a Fox F50-800 vac (with power take off) with my sanders, circular saw and jigsaw etc and it's brilliant. It even copes with my electric hand planer when needed. I...

    Another Joke

I asked the wife "How come this loaf of bread has your name on it?" She said "Where?" I pointed "There! Ooops, sorry, my mistake. It says Thick CUT".

    Bobbin / spindle sander advice

It’s all assembled and back to duty tomorrow and should be fine. The cogs are only pennies to replace in worse case scenario.

    Bobbin / spindle sander advice

I have fitted the new belts just now and not lubricated the cogs and all is running/sounding like it has always done so all seems good. Andy, I didn't mean to lub the teeth on the cogs but the bits that separate the cogs to create the oscillating action. The bit with the red arrows. I think it...

    Cordless brad nailer advice wanted.

I've just had a look at mine and it's 8 bar (116psi) 2.5hp 9.5cfm. Once it drops below 7 bar on the gauge it struggles with 40mm brads

    Bobbin / spindle sander advice

Good point about the dust. It's enclosed pretty well and has good extraction but somehow dust always seems to get anywhere. Belts should be here tomorrow so I'll see how it goes. In worse case scenario I could always replace the cogs as they're quite cheap.

    Bobbin / spindle sander advice

I have a Clarke COBS1 bobbin sander (same as the Triton, Scheppach, Vonhaus and Draper) The oscillating has stopped but the spindle is still spinning. I've taken it apart and it looks that one of the drive belts has stretched and skips teeth resulting in both plastic cogs (the ones with the...

Is Pineboard a good alternative to Ply for shop cabinets?

Is that £25.00 for a full 8x4 sheet? If so let me where you buy this from as that’s cheap.

Is Pineboard a good alternative to Ply for shop cabinets?

I'm not sure. I'm in England but never seen 18mm laminated pine in 8x4 sheets. I think 99% UK pine is imported from Scandinavia though. What did you pay for an 8x4 out of interest?

Is Pineboard a good alternative to Ply for shop cabinets?

I think we're using different kind of pine as laminated pine generally does not come in 8x4 sheets but in 3000x600mm

Is Pineboard a good alternative to Ply for shop cabinets?

Hi Jim, It does cup now and then depending on temperature changes. Once assembled it's fine. I use the cupped ones for sides, fronts and backs on my toy boxes as the dovetail jig straightens them out when clamped in anyway. I have a sheet of polythene covering the sheets of pine and they're...

Not sure. Mine is a 50L and 9.5cfm and kicks in pretty regular

    Makita 18v orbital sander

The little newcomer has been used vigorously today and I must say I'm impressed. I've used the lower settings today for intricate bits and the thing feels good and performs well. Battery life I didn't expect to be good but I managed to sand down a full chair I made today with one fully charged...

    Cordless brad nailer advice wanted.

Hi Doug, The Ryobi nailer seems reasonable priced at £135. I'll have a look into some reviews later. The Makita brad nailer is only £110 off the Makita battery mitre saw which is also on my list of future buys. Decisions decisions.... Life if hard
