Dust extraction on handheld router advice?

I do have two LVHP extractors to use with them and I think the problem is the dust extractor piece that comes with the routers. As the router bit needs to come out quite far, the base of the router is nearly at it's highest position restricting the flow. The speed of the dovetail bit 'spits'...

Dust extraction on handheld router advice?

I have several 1/4 inch handheld routers and they all come with the clear dust extraction piece that can be mounted to the base of the router. Three of the routers I have dedicated to three of my dovetail jigs which saves me quite a bit of time setting them up each time. The router bit sticks...

Zero Clearance insert for Draper Table Saw

I'm pretty sure my riving knife is the same height as the top of the blade. I don't use a sled on this table but I do cut tenons with a homemade jig which slides over the riving knife fine. Really want a new TS but it seems hard to get the other half to 'approve'

Zero Clearance insert for Draper Table Saw

Nice! I did the same last week and it certainly improved the dust extraction. Made mine out of plywood and cut the complete slot on the router table. I used ply that was slightly thicker than it needed to be and kept taking a tenth of a millimetre of the bottom until it was flush with the table...

    Triton router problems

It'll likely be the speed controller. Part number TRA027 Mine's been back for a warranty repair and I don't envy you. From memory it's Toolstream that deals with all Triton warranty repairs and by the looks of it they employ toddlers to do the job. Mine came back with the top housing dislodged...

Dust & chips extraction : What to buy

There's quite a few of these that look similar or the same but painted a different colour and stickers. I wonder if they just get mass produced somewhere and then rebranded by whoever sells them. Seems to be the same with my morticer and pillar drill. :?

Makita LS1019L Mitre saw - anyone have an opinion?

I bought a LS1018L last year and I have a feeling my other half might just kill me if I buy a 1019. Shame as it looks a much better machine.

Dust & chips extraction : What to buy

Clarke does a 'portable' HVLP extractor which is 1HP and pretty quiet. https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/cde35b-dust-collector/ I've used it for a few years on everything except sanders and it performed well. Emptying the bag is not ideal as the inlet for the bag is smaller than the bag itself...

    Cheapest 100mm cyclone

I have made a zero clearance insert for the table saw and it has improved quite a bit. Also less dust coming back up onto the table. I don't use the blade guard with suction as I find it being in the way. Still have the riving knife which made making the insert take a little longer than...

Makita compound mitre saw intermittent electric brake.

Well, at least it's not just me then… :P Still bloody annoying. Especially as mine was 'repaired' end of last year and still has 9 months warranty. It seems to be better when flicking your finger of the switch rather than releasing it slowly but still does it sometimes.

Makita compound mitre saw intermittent electric brake.

Not sure if this is supposed to be in the 'Tools' section? I have a Makita LS1018L compound mitre saw and sometimes the electric brake does not kick in. It spins down for a bit and then the brake kicks in. It has been back to Makita and returned to me 'fixed' with a nice Makita teddybear...

    Atkinson Walker Saws

Most of my blades are from AW. Very good blades and they were local to me. Sham they're gone now as the company that sharpened my last blades made a bit of a balls up. :(

    My recent injuries.

I guess the Pregabalin will ease the pain a bit as it targets nerve pain rather than general pain. Misses Ray is a NP (Nurse Practitioner and Prescriber) but I'm not allowed to be registered at her practise as I'm family. My own GP prescribed me Tramadol, Co-Codamol and Meloxicam which is to...

    Cheapest 100mm cyclone

I don't have a zero clearance insert but certainly will look into that. The table saw I have at the moment is just a site saw as my shed is that small I need to be able to move it around now and then. I'd love to get a proper workshop and have a static cast table saw. Some day eh...

Recommend me a good impact driver please.

I finally changed all my Makita Ni-Cd / Ni-Mh battery tools last year to Li-Ion and bought a 18v Makita drill driver / Impact Driver combo kit to start with. Now replaced my circular saw, jigsaw and multi tool to take the same batteries. For what you're going to use it for I'd highly recommend...

Dust & chips extraction : What to buy

I'd have a look and see if you could situate a HVLP outside of the garage and pipe it through the wall. Less noise although they're pretty quiet anyway and the finer particles are outside of the garage. I'm pretty sure my workshop is a similar size or smaller than a single car garage and I...

    Cheapest 100mm cyclone

For me it's the amount of bag emptying. I use a Clarke 'portable' dust and chip extractor so the inlet on the bag is smaller than the bag itself. I dedicated this extractor to my table saw and it's doing a good job with the cheap cyclone in place. I must have emptied the 60L barrel below the...

Dust & chips extraction : What to buy

I'm a bit of a novice but I personally would go with a high volume extractor. Just bought a Fox F50 842 and it's performing brilliant on my router table which is in use a lot and produces plenty of chips / dust. Cheaper and certainly quieter than the Record you're looking at but there will be...
