    Dobsonian Telescope

Hi Sandip, I have made many dobsonian telescopes, including the mirrors.:) I have been a member of "Stargazers Lounge" for 10 years and suggest that you join, Stargazers Lounge. It is U.K. based, there are many reports to read and plenty of good folks there to help you. Nigel

How well does a Collet reducer work?

I have an old Triton router with a 1/2" collet and the 1/2"-1/4" reducer. No problems with it and you can still get these from here for £7 ish: https://www.tritontools.uk.com/routertra001sparespricelist.html Fits any 1/2" collet. Nigel

    My homemade router table

Actually it is a safety feature. Safety for both the operator and the router. The spindle lock is progressive as the router is raised and it is possible to have the shaft apparently locked when it is only just engaged. I had a problem with my first TRA001 ( an older design than current models)...

    Which router for oak?

One thing that I forgot to mention is that I have a number of Triton products. As such I have had reason to contact them for faults a couple of times and their service has been exemplary. No quibbles and very quick resolution of the problem ( days). I have no association with this company other...

    Which router for oak?

My first router was a basic one from Screwfix ( FERM brand, I think it cost about £30 ) 20 years ago and it did all that I asked of it. That was joined by a TRA001 and table 13 years ago and is still going strong ( the FERM one eventually had a bearing failure and was binned ). I now also have a...

    My homemade router table

I do not understand why some people have a problem reaching under the worktop to operate the router switch. There have been some comments regarding removing the safety cover when mounting Triton routers in a table so that the switch can be left on while allowing the spindle to lock for changing...

    My homemade router table

I have had a TRA001 in my router table for the past 13 years and it is still going strong. It is an older design that doesn't have the through-table height adjustment unfortunately. I also have the JOF001 for hand work and our Men's Shed had the MOF001 in their table. As you have now ordered...

Source of switch for old 'FERM' router

I had one of those but a bearing failed so I ditched it. However, there are many routers from the same stable to the same design so look for something similar that is still available and see if the switch for that one is suitable and available as a spare. Nigel

    Sash clamps

I have the KRevo's. The Rutland ones appear to be identical but I don't have any experience with those and I am sure that there are others probably from the same source. I like the Axminster HD ones for the modification to the handle which provides extra force if and when needed. I bought mine...

    Sash clamps

I find the Bessey parallel jaw clamps one of the best. Axminster do their own version which are almost identical to the Bessey ones and they take the Bessey extenders ( that is joining two clamps to double the length available) as well. The only difference ( apart from the price ) is the...

    Anyone use glue film ?

Put " PVA as hot melt veneer adhesive" into a google search and you get some videos on how to do that. As for glue film, I have not had any problems using it. One advantage that I can see is that it can be applied to one side of the wood only without significant warping problems compared to the...

Recommendations for precision guide bush + sub base + router combination

I have the Triton guide bush kit. It is fitted to my Triton router JOF001, the smallest router in the Triton range and not mentioned in the "guide bush fits:" list on their web site. The mounting plate can be left in position permanently and the bushes slot into a depression with no play at all...

    Filler for Oak

I have tried to use sawdust/glue for filling but it always comes out very dark. The attaches photo shows a scrap piece of Sapele with a screw hole filled with sapele dust and Evo-stick wood adhesive. I have also given it 1 coat of oil to see if the wood would darken sufficiently. Just as bad as...

CamVac 63mm or upgrade to 100mm?

I have the single motor CamVac with 63mm hose and it performs well with my thicknesser and routers via 63mm ducting round the workshop. Can't remember when I last had a blockage. Nigel

    Imperial vs Metric

In 1999 NASA lost it's Mars Climate Orbiter because of a mix up in imperial and SI units between NASA and the contractors, Lockheed. Hey-Ho, only 125 million dollars cost! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Climate_Orbiter Stick to one system. Nigel

    Help needed in Bristol Area

Just turn up. There is always someone there but Tuesday mornings seem to be the busiest. However, at tea and lunch breaks ( 11 to 11:30, 12:45 to 13:43 and 15 to 15:30 approx times) the door will be locked for security and it can be difficult to get anyone to know you're there.. Nigel
