Vacuum Press for veneer work - Buying Advice

Hello all I am starting to work a lot with ply and MDF sheet goods, which gives rise to veneering. Can anybody recommend a vacuum press system that might suit somebody with no prior experience? Is there much of a learning curve to veneering with a vacuum press? From what I can gather, it is...

Hi all I've done a lot of projects in my shed, for my shed, but never anything for indoor use. The other half is looking for some built in shelving and a drawer in the bedroom. The area opening is one door width, and is actually the alcove space underneath a stairs. Any tips for design...

How quiet are those "quiet" compressors?

HI All Unfortunately I do not have an opportunity in person to hear a Swan low noise compressors, but one thing is for sure; my current aldi compressor sure is loud, although is fit for my purposes (mainly brad nailing). It is far too loud for work in the evenings, when my neighbours kids...

Advice for turning on mini lathe, pls

Hi all. For those with experience of the small metal lathe, looking for your advice on turning AL round bar stock, 25mm dia and 120mm long. The stock tends to be displaced in the 4 jaw from the cutting forces. I'm generally only taking a small amount off in each pass, and the tooling is good...

20mm diamater transfer punch? Where to buy?

I couldn't plunge at 20mm which would risk damaging the good top, which hasn't been used, holes in it are perfect

20mm diamater transfer punch? Where to buy?

Hi all I wish to accurately replicate a workbench top (mdf) which has a series of 20mm holes drilled. I have figured that the most accurate way would be to clamp the new blank top underneath and a 20mm diameter transfer punch to locate the centre of the hole on the new top. Once complete I...

    Shop vacuum cleaner

Almost afraid to ask this question, but I bought a new karcher wet and dry vac, however it looses suction very quickly and I continually have to un block it. Would this be due to an under powered unit? It has a 1000w motor

Have an MFT style top. Whats a good method to duplicate it?

Gotcha. So the 3mm is the final and purely an over sizing cut

Have an MFT style top. Whats a good method to duplicate it?

Sorry I don't follow. If the 3mm is the first cut into the new sheet, where are the first cuts made, the ones referring to half inch and 16mm diameters

Have an MFT style top. Whats a good method to duplicate it?

The CNC service was equivalent to 100 GBP. MDF top was 40 GBP. Added to that was the hassle and time to collect the workpiece as the cnc shop is quite a distance away

Have an MFT style top. Whats a good method to duplicate it?

Hi all I paid for a cnc milled mft / bench dog hole top. It's 25mm thick mdf. I'd like to understand if it would be relatively easy to replicate this top while it's in good condition using some sort of arrangement with a router and or forstner bits, etc? Amybody have success in doing so? Thanks

Anyone use a metal lathe for tooling for your woodwork?

That's an impressive list. My Imagination is a limitation, I can understand bushes for routers for example, but struggling to connect the rest!
