    Screw holder

+1 for the Wera ring magnet bit holder, works really well. I have a Trend Snappy sleeved holder but prefer the magnetic type. What can I say, I like to see the screw as I drive it in.

The next day delivery charge was equally impressive, but I'm not complaining!

The usual bank holiday saga ...

Over the 4 day weekend I planned to build a mobile base for my MFT table with storage. So I made sure before Friday I had all the plywood I needed, some edgebanding etc. I even bought an edgebanding end trimmer and normal trimmer to make life easier. I knew I had plenty of glue and screws so I...

    Shed. Build or Buy

Like the replies above I bought what I thought was a pretty decent shed, but in reality its average at best. If I was going for a new shed now I'd definitely build my own. You can get better quality materials and make something that will meet your exact needs, that will last for years.

Coldene Castors - Some Good Deals on Amazon

Whilst searching for some decent castors I have seen several recommendations for Coldene castors, including on the New Brit Workshop. And after comparing prices (and models) across a number of sites I have found some really good prices on Amazon for Coldene Castors such as this set here...

    Which Table saw to choose

Since I got my track saw a few months ago I've not used my table saw. The track saw works great for cutting sheet material and with a bit of care getting square cuts is fine. I'm seriously considering getting rid of the table saw and looking at an MFT/3 setup as it would give me a load more...

My first outing to the workshop 2015

They look really good and must be great to be back in the workshop.

    Which nail gun please?

It maybe a little late on this thread, but I have a Axminster stapler and a Bostitch brad nailer. The difference is night and day. The Bostitch is a pleasure to use but the stapler is nowhere near as good and the safety is a bit of metal that you slide under the trigger. Bostitch or similar is...

Axminster North Shields Store 20% off this weekend

That's a good deal, just a shame it's not at other Axminster stores!

Some questions about MDF/pine/plywood workshop units.

There's a really good workbench design here: http://www.thegentlemanjoiner.com/mobil ... index.html I built a variation of this using 3x3s, 2x3s and some MDF and ply bought from Wickes. It all went in the back of my car and probably cost a bit more as I bought cut sheets of MDF instead...

    Festool

By coincidence I've got a contract in Twickenham for the next few months so very handy for D&M. Will definitely be checking out Bunny's Bolts though as well.

    Festool

I lived in Woking for years and didn't know there was a Festool dealer locally and will take the chance to visit when the roadshow is there, so thank you I think ... (as I slip closer down the dreaded Festool Road To Financial Ruin)

Axminster RIDER No.4 1/2 Smoothing Plane

I've got a couple of the older rider planes bought on a deal as they were launching this new range. Once setup properly they are great planes and really good value. I'm after a shoulder plane and will be getting another Rider plane as I think they represent a great match of quality and cost.

    Benchtop Bandsaws - Any Good?

Thanks Keith, that's a good idea. I've started to put castors on some equipment to help me make the most of the space. Another unit underneath would also provide some much needed storage space as well.

    Benchtop Bandsaws - Any Good?

Great, thanks both. It would be for lighter work rather than heavy duty stuff so sounds like the smaller benchtop models are definitely worth considering. Conveniently I'm working in Twickenham later this week so might just have to pop along to D&M for a little nosy... PAC1 - When you say...

    Benchtop Bandsaws - Any Good?

I've been having a bit of a rethink of what tools I have in my small (8 foot by 8 foot) workshop and recently I keep coming across situations where a bandsaw would make life far easier and produce better results than using a jigsaw instead. As the workshop is small I've been looking at a...

Training or workshops in Surrey/hants borders

Have a look at Christoper Hall aka The Gentleman Joiner. He runs a number of courses near Guildford. I've just been on a one day course with him and learnt loads from him. I'll be going back for more in the future.
