    Shed Build WIP

Four sides screwed together, with the odd bit of ply lining still to go on. Starting the roof timbers. 3 x 2s if I remember correctly, which should be fine as it is a very small roof. Pitch is 22.5 degrees if I remember right.

    Shed Build WIP

Then started to make the frames for the sides. Mainly 2 x 2 but a few strategically placed 2 x 4s as well. This is the front incorporating the door and window. Window was salvaged from the old extension in my house before we pulled it down. Note the wall plate left over sized to take the...

That seems to have worked so I shall carry on. Between the joists filled with 50mm celotex supported on short pieces of batten. Then overlayed with 18mm second hand ply

    Shed Build WIP

Hi This thread is as much about me learning to post pictures as it is for you to see my shed build, so appologies if it's a bit slow. After building the workshop, I needed to get as much of the none woody stuff out as possible, gardening tools, that sort of thing so a new shed was called for. I...

    Sharpening using the ruler trick

All the ones I've seen in shops have looked too thick, though I'm not sure how thick is right either. Anyone know of anywhere mail order that are suitable? Mark

Crown Guard with dust extraction port

Thanks for the replies I don't really want to make one if I'm honest though that certainly looks good. Jason I can't get your link to felder to work and can't find crown guards on their web site, are you able to give me an idea where to navigate to on their site please? Mark

Crown Guard with dust extraction port

Hi As per the title, I'm after an aftermarket/retro fit crown guard with a dust extraction port. My saw has a crown guard but has no port and I don't really want to start trying to cut it up and fit one. (not sure the plastic wouldn't shatter in any case) I like the clear plastic ones if...

    Replacements blades for old Stanleys

Vann Can you post the links to the Lie Nielsen and Veritas pages where you got the thicknesses as I can't find them. (and therefore wouldn't know where to buy them). Thanks Mark

    Replacements blades for old Stanleys

I've been looking at all these options. The published thicknesses of replacement blades are as follows: Clifton - 3.1mm Lie Nielsen - 3.75mm Lee Valley - 3.25mm Hock - awaiting reply from classic hand tools but probably similar to others. So if the Clifton requires the mouth to be filed it...

    Replacements blades for old Stanleys

Hi all I have a no4.5 and no6 Stanley plane, both about 100 yrs old. I am in the process of cleaning up and fettling both. Both have very little blade left and need replacing. What are my options? I know Lie Neilsen make replacements, but are there any others I should consider? I am keen...

Table saw set up, how accurate is accurate?

Hi Well this has got far more technical than I intended, a bit heavy after a 5am start this morning and a day at work. I am happy with the general principle as described however (I think :) ) and thanks to all for your input. Obviousy I still want to strive to get it the best I can and wanted...

Table saw set up, how accurate is accurate?

Thanks for the replies, sounds fairly accurate when compared to a *** paper. I would have thought it would be more difficult to cut accurate mitres if the blade and mitre track were not parallel as I wouldn't be able to use the graduations on the mitre and would have to make adjustments to take...

Table saw set up, how accurate is accurate?

Hi I'm starting to put together my table saw I bought second hand a couple of months ago. I'm following the woodwhisper vids. First job is to align the mitre slots to the blade. I've used the adjustable set square method he describes, rotating the teeth to measure from the same tooth front...
