    Table saw refurb- kity 618

This is what I'd do, basically because this is how it's supposed to attach. I'd just bolt all the way through the infill, that's how mines done (minus the infill). The box is tapped and bolted on because you obviously can't get a nut on in the middle of it. No idea about the aluminium strength...

    Table saw refurb- kity 618

Did you get the front and rear angle rails as well as the box rail with your fence? From your diagram it looks like the front edge of the top is not flat, some piece sticking out at the bottom? If the sticky out bit is just a couple of lugs as per my kity bandsaw I'd be tempted to cut them off...

    Table saw refurb- kity 618

If you need a photo of how its supposed to be attached let me know and I'll take one, though it seems you might need to gash something together. The box section rail is supported by the angle underneith which is in turn bolted to the side of the cast top, when attached how it was designed to...

    Table saw refurb- kity 618

If it helps, on the unisaw the angle iron which supports the rail is just bolted to the side of the cast iron top. Nothing fancy. There are then legs which screw under the right hand extension to provide support, though the saw has enough bulk that they are not really needed. Mark

    Blum soft closers

Nathan That's interesting, the hinges are Blum How do they work/attach? Not sure what specific hinge type they are I find the Blum website a bit hard to use, but they are inset doors. Do they attach to any Blum hinge? You can probably gather I'm not trade but there is usually a way around...

    Blum soft closers

Yes. This is not something new I am making. Something now in the way in the cupboard that prevents these staying where they are and not really possible to move them to somewhere else. So dont want to buy 4 new hinges cause its in the way of 2 doors. Believe 2 soft closers will be cheaper...

    Decorating Q

Seems to have stored in the back of my grey matter, but I might be wrong. Regarding when using general purpose interior filler on walls and woodwork and also using caulk, will they stick to eggshell or do I need to emulsion it first? Seem to remember a decorator telling me this a few years...

Has anyone got a woodwork bench for Sale?

My ex school bench came from Education for all. If I remember right it was £30 which included 2 Record 53e vices. All I had to do was raise it a bit as I'm 6'2 and your average school kid isn't. Definitely worth £30, give them a call got to be worth an ask if they are still getting any. Mark

    Creosote or barn paint

My sheds and workshop are painted in Bedec black barn paint. Its water based so none of the toxicity problems and easy to clean up. I's say its more a soft sheen than gloss and even that sheen weathers down over time. What you actually painting/treating? Mark

    Silencer for air pump

Mick, no, all (in my price bracket) pond/cess pit aerators have a fixed output rate. This is a slightly higher output than my old pump, which I had to buy to get the benefit of auto cut off, which I wanted as my old one eventually shook itself to pieces because there was nowhere for the air to...

    Silencer for air pump

Thanks for the answers guys At the moment the manifold is more or less plugged into the pumps output and the manifold in turn has 2 taps/outlets. One goes to the air brick. The other has no tube and I think the first thing to do is get a tube on the and see if this reduces the noise on its...

    Silencer for air pump

Not really sure where best to post this. I need to either buy or make something that can be used to silence an air pump. The pump pumps air into my pond to aerate it as it has negligible other moving water. I've just installed this as the old one was beyond economical repair. The pump has...

    Tapered round nose router bit.

Whats it for, how big is it, what does the finish need to be like, how accurate does it need to be???? Depending on your answers there may be other ways to do this, such as utilising the tilt on a table saw. Regards Mark

    Shelving in alcove

Nick I have done something similar with no prob at all. Done it in both oak and thick reclaimed pine on slightly longer spans. Loaded with hardbacks without sagging. Mine are probably slightly thicker however but not a lot. In fact I have gone one step further as my alcoves are ever so...
