    Cherry Fly Box

It's a very nice box. The internal compartments look well made and if it's your first go at veneering it's a very creditable result. Ed

    Mafell saw on Bosch rails

Does anyone know if the Mafell and Bosch rails are the same? I have the Mafell KSP55F saw and these rails look the same as the Mafell to me, but interested to know if anyone has actually done this. The reason for asking is they appear to be half the price...

    A Krenov-inspired cocktail cabinet

I think that's a superb detail for the junction between cabinet and base - very nicely done Ed

    A Krenov-inspired cocktail cabinet

I love the cabinet, and I loved the stand as it was. In my view it was more elegant with the slimmer apron rail before the drawer was introduced. I'm struggling with the drawer in a contrasting material - the grain of the timber in the rest of the rail has strong horizontal lines and I think it...

    Which block plane????????

I have a stanley 60 1/2 with a Hock blade in it, and although it is not as nice in the hand as the LN 60 1/2 which I also have, functionally the two are more or less on a par. The LN has a greater feel of solidity about it and is on the whole nicer to use, but is 3 times the price of the Stanley...

    A Krenov-inspired cocktail cabinet

Looks very Krenovian to me, the Sycamore looks nice. I think some design development is fine, for eg the knob height discussions on my cabinet on the other side, but I agree with the others that the fundamental principles need establishing and fixing at the beginning. Ed

    Combating bandsaw drift

I agree Steve. I can honestly say I have no drift on my current saw (Axminster AP5300) with table, blade and fence all square to each other. I used to suffer massive drift on my old Scheppach Basato 3. I think the stiffness of the frame of the saw and it's ability to fully tension a blade is a...

Help choosing a Tenon Saw please.

According to the lady at Flinn's the beech lynx saws don't have the refined handle shape, but the one I posted on the previous page does and is still only £50.

Help choosing a Tenon Saw please.

How about this ? http://www.axminster.co.uk/victor-victo ... prod23597/ Made by Thomas Flinn, decent blade, I've tried the handle and found it quite comfortable, it's a British made saw for £50 - I'm thinking of having one. I had a chat with the lady at Thomas Flinn about handles and she said...

    A Krenov-inspired cocktail cabinet

I'm not arguing for a mindless statement of 'that looks good' on everything. I just feel that since we are all here for fun it is more virtuous (and more motivating) where projects are concerned to give generally positive feedback with observations on improvements, rather than to try and prove...

    A Krenov-inspired cocktail cabinet

Great work. I have no doubt that JK would have been using a Domino had it been around in his time. Ed Rob - get over yourself and try and find something positive in the work of others. Don't give me the 'if you don't like it, you should stay away' line, that's a cop out. Of course we all have...

Record 043 - Great plough indeed!

In the interests of experimentation I picked one up on eBay for £16. Not as shiny as some of these others, but it's all there, with 3 blades. Works well, although I don't find it particularly comfortable to hold. I made a fancy wooden fence just for giggles yesterday afternoon. Ed

    Apollo Pro Spray

I have the exact machine you link to and have been very pleased with it. It was used in the project in the attached thread; http://www.woodworkuk.co.uk/forum/viewt ... f=9&t=6496 Theres some comments in the thread on spray techniques that you may find helpful. The only negative thing I can...

Starting a joinery firm from scatch

I've always thought that building up the skills and machinery whilst doing a paying day job is the way to do it, which is loosely what I've been doing for a while although not entirely sure where I'm going with it
