    Spirit level ?

Definitely Stabila - go for the die-cast ones rather than the extruded if you can afford it as I reckon theyre more durable. Ed

Bypassing NVR Switch on Chip Extractor?

 Now that made me laugh. I am thinking of doing the same on my ADE1200, I have the Camvac 386 on a remote switch but didn't bother with the 1200 due to the NVR. Its on a (very long) list of things to do when I have 5 minutes. Cheers, Ed

    Waterproofing\Tanking

I just finished some tanking on the back of my house, which I covered in the following blog post; http://thingswemake.wordpress.com/2009/ ... -in-again/ If you don't have direct ground contact then something less dramatic would probably do the job Cheers, Ed

Kell III, perhaps the ultimate honing guide...

What these ones? No, not a figment of your imagination, they very much appeared in F&C 135 - Christmas 2007. I have also made all kinds of other tools and workshop aids to what I consider to be a good accurate standard, all starting from scratch. I think you're missing the point...

Kell III, perhaps the ultimate honing guide...

I am catching up on this one (having been away walking in North Wales for 5 days) so have read the discussion so far all in one go, rather than over several days as it was written. The thread appears to be going in the direction that forum discussions do from time to time, where positions become...

Infill Smoothing Plane WIP - now complete with pics.

Looks excellent Aled. You must be delighted with the result, even if the route there has been a little challenging. The various bits of reading I have done over the last few years on blogs and forums has made me realise the extent of engineering skill required to produce such a thing to an...

Rip fence upgrade for Kity 419

Ah well thats the difference then - the kity one slides quite nicely to my thinking. Also, as mentioned earlier in this thread, the Kity machine shipped with both long and short fences (I use the long one). Not that helps you at all, but I can understand being unhappy with only the short fence. Ed

Rip fence upgrade for Kity 419

I don't know if the TS200 fence is different or worse quality than the Kity one, but I've always found the fence that came with my 419 to be fine. Admittedly its not in the same league as the fences on bigger machines, but for the capacity of the saw I have always felt the fence was about right...

    New Dewalt nail gun

Well maybe, but it gave me a chuckle this evening. Ed

    Regrettable tools

Black and Decker cordless screwdriver that came free ( so technically I didn't buy it) with a corded drill about 15 years ago. The drill was OK but the screwdriver was so weak I might as well have used the handle to bang the damn screws in - would have been quicker. Held a charge for a good 5...

    Buying decision: Which Impact Driver?

I have the 10.8v Makita and find it excellent, however I agree with the comments that it would probably struggle if needed to be used all day, every day. Cracking little tool for what I want it for though. Cheers, Ed

Calling TS200 owners. How do you remove the blade?

What Rob said. Can I also point out that should you happen to loose that skinny spanner for a bit and decide to immobilise the blade with a metal rod resting on the table there is a good chance that when it slips slightly it will chip the end off one of the saw teeth. Don't ask me how I know...

    House Extension - NEW PICTURES!!!

I posted a picture in Dans other thread of a very similar extension I built on my last house. I had a similar level issue on mine - this was my solution; I know not everyone likes decking, but this worked brilliantly for us. Cheers, Ed

    Attaching drawer fronts

Double sided tape to position and then screw from the inside would be one option. Cheers, Ed

Builder starting small extension, will I regret it

Funnily enough Brad I built more or less an identical extension on my last house. Here's a pic to give you an idea of what yours might look like; The downstands on the hips are to hide a deeper rafter in these locations so were accentuated to contain lighting. Cheers, Ed

Well I've already said the message in the thread title, but just noticed this and thought it may be of interest to someone. Cheers, Ed.

Trimble Towers Workshop Tour (Beware, lots of big pics)

Looks excellent - nicely laid out and tidy as well. Only thing I would add is a combined outfeed / assembly table at the back of the tablesaw. I have this setup and find it very versatile. Thanks for sharing Ed

FOR SALE - DMT stones...now SOLD

Well as any of you who read Terry Pratchett will know, the Grim Reaper uses silk, cobweb and air as his final stages of honing on his scythe, so that may be the ultimate sharpening device. Cheers, Ed NB - not suggesting Rob is in any way involved in transporting people to the afterlife or...

    Axminster ADE1200 Extractor

Just proving the point Chems is making, I have just bought a Camvac 386 for my TS, Bandsaw and other fine dust applications as the ADE1200 is not suitable for those machines. Cheers, Ed
