Axminster AW10BSB2 10" Table Saw - NOW SOLD

Hello All Although I haven't posted here for some time, as a previously active forum member and knowing the community here, I thought there might be interest in the table saw I have for sale. The saw is an Axminster AW10BSB2 10" table saw, in the complete kit version which includes the cast...

    Counterfeit and 'Knock-off' Tools

The interesting thing is that whilst everyone is getting hung up on bedrocks, L-N didn't even start up doing them, in fact (as the link below shows) there is an interesting tale relating to someone else 'copying' Stanley 95's which Tom L-N then took up, so there is a pre-LN precedent for copying...

    Are these screwdrivers?

They are indeed Facom, good spot there Matt. I have several sets of them, originally simply because my local toolshop happened to be a Facom reseller, but over time it has become clear to me that they are excellent screwdrivers. Did you ask the same question on the blog? If so, apologies for...

I also didn't realise there were any forum members there, where in the room were you Alex?

New English Workshop - Dutch Tool Chest Course

Well where the boards meet the sides on the ends of the chest you have a cross grain situation, so they're always going to be the 'wrong' way round for one of the bits. Personally I'd do what Bern did and have the wedging action in line with the grain on the bottom boards as they are the more...

New English Workshop - Dutch Tool Chest Course

Hi Bern I didn't expect to finish, although personally I could have gone quite a but quicker (particularly on day one) which would have meant being more complete at the end. I suppose this is just how it is with courses - it'll never be the case that everyone is at the same level. The extra...

New English Workshop - Dutch Tool Chest Course

It's Southern Yellow Pine, which is what was supplied on the course - pretty horrible to work with and not my choice. Personally I would prefer either Yellow Poplar or Eastern White Pine.

New English Workshop - Dutch Tool Chest Course

Everything by hand Peter - it's really enjoyable to force yourself to work in this way; it's an entirely different type of woodworking when there's no machines or power tools.

New English Workshop - Dutch Tool Chest Course

Thanks Steve and Doug. I know I've been gone a while, but do people only reply to threads if they know you in person these days?

Thanks Paul, I still learned a few things on the course and the overall experience was very enjoyable. Ed

New English Workshop - Dutch Tool Chest Course

Hello All I've not been posting here for some considerable time, but I did read the recent thread on the ATC course and enjoyed it, so I thought I would reciprocate by sharing my pictures of the Dutch Tool Chest course the following week. These are all from Instagram, which I used to capture...

Bench top drill press info wanted

I've got an Axminster (the same one Doug has in fact) its unremarkable, but OK for the price. Having said that, the chuck has just gone to pot on mine, but they are replacing it despite being out of warranty. Ed

    My reaons for leaving UKW

So am I, this is a text book example of cognitive dissonance, where people are prepared to entirely overlook some casual racism because it doesn't fit in with the rest of their belief set about an individual. Amazing insight into the human mind that people will block out a conflicting piece of...
