I like the shooting board but the plane is even more interesting.

I have made the same one. My square was not square enough first time. That was the main cause of it being out of square. Then I used my old school memories to draw accurate angles.

Thank you for starting the thread I use the opportunity to ask some stupid question. I have made my own shooting board for both 90 & 45 degrees. After struggling for few days I realised the angles were not accurate. Therefore without having a reasonably accurate reference it is a challenge...

Thank you for the replies and advices. I decided to leave with three coats of finishing oil. The letters were glued using Titebond original and were clamped for four hours. The finished article looks amazing.

That’s right. I have made couple of different mortises but it was the first mortise which needed to be easy to take apart. Therefore there was no option to secure it permanently. It was not my own idea.

Dovetail is used in the part of tenon inside the mortise. The wedges are locking the joint in. It provided stronger joint and can be disassembled easily. Simple tenon and mortise has a weakness they can be pulled back if not secured in any other way. I hope this picture is explanatory enough...

The original idea was taken from a Canadian woodworker ( https://youtu.be/PNT7BjPPnzc). The base is a solid laminated sheet. I was advised to avoid solid base due to lack of ventilation. I used IkEA base for it.
