Thanks for your thoughts - I'm almost retired from construction and teaching and want to get back into woodworking for pleasure so I think the decision has been made.
I have been looking for a scroll saw for the last few months, looking at costs, performance, and usage when a neighbour put a spanner in the works !! - he had a laser cutter cost £500 is from Ebay. Having seen some of the samples work he has, it made me wonder! Scroll saw or laser cutter...
It looks excellent all the grain and colours - love the pictures some of you post shows what you do with pieces of wood I'd have put on the wood burner pile (no offence intended), the very least I'd have done is to try and fill in the cracks. Keep the picture coming it inspires some - and...
Now decided - going cheap! but now armed with the knowledge that it will fall apart after 4hr and it going to take 4hr to reduce the wall so if it does I can take it back for a refund. Comments about rent a good machine, there something in my nature that wont let me rent £50 for first day...
Thank for joining in my rant - some caring and not so caring but funny - looked a few drills and I've realised I need a demolition type power hammer this job needs power; sounds a lot like top gears Clarkson - eeeee I remember the day when you could just run a bagging from pit top and...
Will do Mark - since I've left a job half done having to break out 9" breeze blocks to make a doorway I need something with guts - personal recommendation welcome and better than sales blarb.
Well since I am forced to have the rest of the day off I may as well rant ; in one week two of my power tools have burned out or disintegrated - 1. a power plane 2. SDS power hammer/chisel/drill - worse because I keep buying crap ( black n d and any tools from Aldi). This has suspended...
Thanks for the suggested video it worked - still had to bring the bands into the study and watch with youtube playing, the 7/8th thicker band was a fighter but its now away. Now I want some stain for a light oak table it flicked. Thanks again.
I'm at the point of giving up - when they arrive the band blades are nicely folded into three coils once I change blades they wont go back - they must be a knack to it but I don't have it. At the moment I have them hanging from nails; scratches and cuts on hands and forearms ? and two kinked...
From your letter it sounds like you have the solution with you - I would get the" impatient wife" which every body who has studied Greek mythology knows is slang for "Medusa"; to look at the living thing, turn it to stone then either make a sundial pedestal from the stump or it will be...
yes would be interested flh801978 - would I be able to come through and have a look ? sorry its a quick message on my way out but I'm available most times :
[email protected] or 07816245705 for a text.

Hi Alan
After your message I've been on the 'net' to check other comments especially spares - and these proved hard to source and even then it proved to be guess work on comparable machines in USA here there may have been differences metric UK and US imperial fittings. I had arranged a deal to...
Anybody got a view on this older heavy iron topped saw bench - I'm am looking to bid on this shortly is it ; accurate; quiet; can you get parts; what would be a good price for one in good condition. Sorry to pick your brains any answer gratefully received.
Fred
Could you say whether the wife is still available or not and could I have details - 240v or 3 phase, does it cook or do anything useful, does it scrub up good without sandpaper, and mainly can it be turned off or isolated. No ! best not ask for pictures.
I would endorse the above suggestion. I have just finished my shed at the end of the garden and used 10mm armoured bigger than required - regrets 1. fuse box too small (only 3 fuses lights, power, doors) 2. wish I put in internet cable/landline phone line although I did use...
Just got a sanding disc 14" (350mm) for the rear end of the union grad lathe and finding it hard to find source of stick on paper. Just wondering if any members could share their supplier.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Pheew - just going to bid on a Metabo Optal 26 on eBay and I thought I'd get a second report from you on this site that have experienced the machine! - and the verdict is --- I'm not going to bid. So looks like posting on the wanted page for some separate machines; so newly retired...
Sorry for your troubles - but problems and how they are resolved are noted by others (I have a graduate) - one thing you said belts that don't need the spindle taking off ! never knew they existed and my belt must be 30years old. I may have to look into those.
